A highly versatile 3-in-1 option, the Marmot Women’s Ramble Component Jacket consists of a waterproof/breathable shell and a cozy fleece liner that can be worn in tandem or on their own.
An extremely versatile three in one jacket built for the mountain or every day around town use, the Marmot women’s Ramble Component jacket has a lot of functional features, but it has got sleek and simple design that would be great for downtown.
The first thing I want to talk about is the shell over top. So this is a three in one jacket. You have got a waterproof shell and a fleece layer on the inside. This waterproof shell is made with Marmot’s membrane fabric and that is a completely waterproof and breathable fabric. It is fully seam taped so it is going to keep you dry. The water is going to bead up and run off and water isn’t going to sneak its way in through this jacket.
It is also a plain weave material. So it is not shiny. It is not noisy like a regular rain jacket. It is a pretty silent and soft material. So it makes it great for days when it is not raining or not snowing. It definitely fits right in.
The features here on the shell are simple, but you have got a lot of functional features, perfect for mountain use. You have got a full length zipper here. You have got hand level pockets. These are nice hand warmer pockets, so on the inside of those pockets there is a nice fleece material. It keeps your hands nice and warm. There is a stretchy draw cord around the hem and the hem is actually a little bit dropped in the back. So if you are skiing or snow boarding, you are not going to have that snow come up and you can cinch that down. Even if you are hiking or backpacking in really cold conditions, you can cinch that down if you are wearing a backpack strap or something like that.
There is a zippered chest pocket up here and that actually has a water resistant coating so you can put smaller items up there. And they can be protected from the elements. On the cuffs you have a stretchy adjustable cuff. So you have got Velcro there. If you are wearing gloves underneath or gloves over top it is going to work really well. So you can really cinch that down.
Up here on the collar you have a nice extended collar. So you can zip that up and keep your neck warm, but you also have an attached and adjustable hood. So you have got adjustability in that hood. It is a pretty big hood and you can cinch it down. It would be great for wearing over a hat or something like that, but all in all this shell would be great as a stand alone piece as well. So if it is not really cold out, if you don’t need to wear the fleece jacket underneath, you can take hem apart and wear this as just a rain jacket over top.
The fleece by itself is also a great stand alone piece. So you can wear the jacket by itself, the fleece by itself and this is a really soft fleece fabric. It is 100 percent polyester velour fleece so it is very light weight. On the coldest of days, you know, this isn’t going to cut it. You are definitely need to wear them together and wear some layers underneath of it, but on chilly fall evenings this will be a great piece. It has got its own set of features as well. So you do have a full length zipper, storm flap behind the zipper. There is an adjustable hem with the fleece by itself, so you can cinch that down as well. That adds a lot of value to this jacket. And you have two hand level pockets as well. So the actual draw cord goes into that pocket. So if you have everything cinched down that is not going to feel too bulky.
On the cuffs you have a stretchy Lycra on ether side of the cuff. So there is no adjustability with the fleece, cuffs and there is also a little tab there that you can attach the sleeve of the jacket to the sleeve of the fleece. So you are not going to worry about this riding up on you when you are wearing the jacket. They fit really well together. They are sized so that the fleece fits nicely inside the jacket. There fleece is a little bit smaller fit. I am wearing a small today and this fits really well. The jacket by itself has a more generous fit. So you do wear it over top. You can wear layers underneath of it as well.
Overall, used in tandem, you have got a nice lightweight, warm piece. You can use them separately. So that adds a lot of value to this already value conscious piece. It has got a lot of functional features for the mountain, but it has also got those sleek lines and very simple look to it. So it is just as at home downtown.
It is the Marmot women’s Ramble Component jacket.
