With a hybrid, technical design and street-savvy aesthetics, the Outdoor Research Vindo Hoody delivers a hybrid mix of backcountry performance and everyday style. With wind-resistance, warm synthetic insulation, and a fashionable look, the Vindo Hoody may prove to be the jacket you reach for on every occasion.
For shorter days on the trail or those cooler days downtown, the Outdoor Research Men’s Vindo Hoody is a versatile piece that can tackle it all. Let’s take a look at some of its features.
Taking a look at the materials in play on the jacket. We have got a polyester face fabric on the tops of the sleeves and the chest and back of the jacket with a recycled polyester insulation. So we do get a little bit of insulation on the piece. On the underarms and the side panels we have got a polyester and wool blend, so that enhances the breathability, enhances the comfort of the piece and gives you that hybrid mapped construction so you get ventilation and breathability where you need it while still being very comfortable and a little bit more warmth in those core areas when you might want to be a little more toasty.
Some of the features on the jacket include a full length front zipper with an internal storm flap. So that is going to give you some draft protection. On the inside of the jacket we do have two kind of shove it pockets, so on either side there is a shove it pocket to drop in some small items. You have got one of those on either side.
We do have a chest pocket on the piece, so we have got a nice, small chest pocket here. Again, smaller essentials that you may want to keep a little closer at hand in the chest pocket area.
We don’t really have any elasticity on the cuffs of the jacket like you would normally see, but it is a very comfortable fit, pretty loose and low profile, again, with that wool and polyester blend as well as that polyester insulated material. You have got very good comfort next to skin.
On the hem of the jacket we do have a draw cord. I this kind in the back on the right hand side, but you can cinch that down and really draw in the fit so the jacket is not riding up on you at all, so it adds to the comfort and keeps that warm air in.
We do have a hood on the piece as well. It is kind of just a hanging hood like a generally hoody, but if you put that up you can see that it is a pretty low profile hood. You know, there is no real adjustment on the hood here. We do have a single point on the back that is going to help to draw it in and allow for some more peripheral vision, but no adjustment on the front of the hood. You just have that kind of stand up zip through collar here, so nice hood, nice features. It is insulated so it will keep your head a little bit warmer if you are not wearing a hat.
We also have two zippered hand pockets on the piece, so down low you have got some nice, sizable zippered hand pockets. And they are hand warmer pockets so that insulation is layered on the outside. So if you are not wearing gloves, you can get a little bit warmth out of the pockets.
The fit is a pretty regular fit. It is not super tight, not super loose, very casual piece. I am wearing a medium here and that is normally the size that I would wear in an Outdoor Research piece. If you want to layer some heavy layers underneath you may consider sizing up, but the piece does generally fit pretty well.
And there you have it. For those cooler fall days whether you are on the trail or you are downtown, the Outdoor Research Men’s Vindo Hoody is an excellent option.
