Sierra Designs Transporter Glove Video

This is the Sierra Designs Transporter glove. It is a waterproof breathable glove with a little bit of soft shell fabric on the back of the hand here. It is pretty ski specific but it would also work well as a general winter glove for snow sports. You’ve got full leather through the fingers and across the back of the hand as well as the whole palm with reinforcements in the places where you need it. You’ve got reinforcements exactly where that ski pole is going to be rubbing against your glove. So some specific features to the transporter glove that make this a very ski oriented glove, though it will work well for most mountain sports, is going to be the padding that you have here at the back of the hand where you have the stretch soft shell. You’ve got padded knuckles as well as padding where the black visuals are here on the fingers. This is going to be nice if you like skiing out of bounds or do a lot of tree skiing and bump up against tree branches, or maybe you’re working a ski lift and your hands are constantly going with machinery all day long. You’ll get some better protection out of this glove. You have a very low profile cuff design on this glove as well. A nice, burly velcro tab with a stretch gusset here. This gives you some good adjustability but as you can see it is designed to tuck a fleece or sweatshirt underneath, cinch that down and then you can put a jacket or a shell over this glove so you’re going to get a nice seal without having a heavy gauntlet there like you do on a lot of ski glove. A final standout feature on the transporter glove is the outseam construction. You can see here that the seams are sewn outside of the glove, which is a little different than what you’re used to seeing, and what that does is it offers a little bit better dexterity and grip on smaller objects. Perhaps you’re trying to work a pack strap or ski binding or you’re adjusting your poles, this outseam construction gives you a little bit better dexterity than on a design that doesn’t have it. A few finishing touches are the soft nose wipe across the entire back of the thumb and you do have a pairing clip here so you can clip the gloves together when not in use.
