Sierra Designs Mojo Tents Video

Redefining what it means to be an ultralight, Sierra Designs Mojo series tent pushed lightweight to a whole new level. You can basically throw away all those weight-saving tricks like cutting your tooth brush in half because the Mojo saves critical ounces so that you don't have to. One of the most innovative things we did on this tent was to create the one-pitch design. So the tent fly is actually sewn into the tent body – creating a single construction method allowing the tent to pitch in one quick and easy method. The fly creates the wings off of the side, giving you ample storage space and incredible venting throughout the whole body of the vent. The sunflower hub by DAC is the central point for this tent. The legs of the tent, the antenna poles and the ridge pole all connect in one spot. We use a DAC 8.05 aluminum pole for the Mojo 2, which is the lightest weight aluminum pole on the market. Fabric-wise, we're using a 20 by 40 Denier Nylon 66 fabric. The balance there is minimizing the weight, getting the lightest grams per square meter you can without sacrificing the strength. This fabric, because of the weave, has double the strength of a traditional 20 Denier fabric with only adding 2 grams per meter. It is coated with a PU coating for waterproofness up to 3,000 millimeters. Very high performance fabric. The Sierra Designs 2-person Mojo weighs in at only 2 pounds, 11 ounces. It's a livable size. The shoulder room inside the tent achieves through the pole structure. We took all of the weight savings that we do in a normal tent a little bit farther. For instance, we're using half-width binding tape, single zipper sliders, we're using smaller zipper chain. We're minimizing the amount of the zipper without affecting the opening of the door. Using everything very carefully really allowed us to not overbuild the tent, but not sacrifice usability. The Mojo is built for the ultralight backpacker who's concerned with the pack size as well as the weight who doesn't want to sacrifice the comfort, strength and durability of the tent.
