The Rocky Mountain High Gaiter by Outdoor Research is a full-length gaiter. It is waterproof on the bottom part and very breathable and durable on the top part. This gaiter is designed to protect your lower leg from snow or mud, various forms of precipitation, as well as keep trail debris out of your shoe or boot. So it's going to keep rocks, sticks, mud, that sort of thing as you're hiking. And it's also great at keeping your socks warm and dry during inclement weather. OR uses a durable 8-ounce pack cloth for this gaiter and you can see a seam across the middle here. Below that seam is a coated pack cloth so this is going to be very waterproof. Above that, you're going to have a much lighter more breathable version of material. It does have some water-resistance to it, but its not going to be waterproof. The front closure of this gaiter is a long, durable Velcro strip. It runs from the bottom of the gaiter to the top. At the bottom you have an extra Velcro tab that secures that and prevents separation as well as a double-riveted metal buckle that attaches to your lace to help secure the gaiter to your foot. The top of the gaiter secures through a piece of webbing and a cam buckle. The webbing slides through the cam buckle, is adjustable to fit around your leg and the cam buckle closes with a push of the thumb. To completely secure the Rocky Mountain High Gaiter to your foot, OR uses a Hypalon strap. This strap is adjustable with a metal buckle. This allows you to adjust the gaiter to fit over various-sized footwear, shoes or boots and there is a webbing tab to stick the strap into to secure it and keep it from flapping around. The bottom of the Rocky Mountain High Gaiter has a thick elastic strap. This also allows for adjustment with different sized shoes, but also keeps the gaiter secure to your foot and keeps debris out of the gaiter.
