We are taking a look at the Optic tents by Mountain Hardwear.
Right now I am kneeling next to the 3.5, but it also comes in a 2.5 version. The special thing and the thing that just stands out about these tents is that you have really wide opening doors that are on adjacent sides of the tent, instead of a traditional tent that has got doors on either side. This allows you to have a 180 degree panorama view.
The Optic tents are definitely built to spend a lot of time in, to be comfortable and to just hang out in. You have also got a lot of other features. You have got two pockets right there. You can, you know, dump your stuff in there. There is also some toggles up here that you can attach a gear loft that is sold separately. And there is a little toggle up here in the middle that I would hang a lantern or, you know, some kind of light there and just make it just really comfortable and easy to use.
As you can see, you have got a lot of mesh in the upper part of the tent, so it is really breathable and you have got three DAC poles for this tent.
Going to the clip construction this tent is really easy to set it up. I can set it up by myself. And it pitches with these series of clips. So really easy to set up. You know, you don’t have any sleeves on this tent. You can just take the clip and, you know, clip it on there.
Another unique part of this tent is this kind of cross pole right here. And so it has got two traditional poles that run the length of the tent, but this pole right here brings the side wall of the tent a lot more vertical. So, you know, with that sprawling interior space in the floor space, you also have more space around your head. So you have got a lot more liva-ble space in this tent, due to this extra pole.
We have got the rain fly on the tent and you can see you have got with your two doors you have also got two vestibules. With those two vestibules combined on the 3.5 you have 12 square feet of storage space underneath of that rain fly. And with this rain fly it is fully seamed taped and 75 D fabric which you have a lot of durability and a lot of wa-ter tight construction there.
You have got tabs here just to keep that vestibule closed. And you can roll this back... you can roll that back really easily. The other side is the same way. So you can see how much storage space you have here. You can store your back packs or your boots. And you have space on the other side with the other door as well. So big open doors, easy in, easy out in this tent.
With this tent you have got a really roomy interior. You have got a full coverage rain fly that is going to give you confidence on a rainy night. And you have got this excellent, 180 degree view. With this tent you can be confident in spending a lot of time in it.
