Garmont Momentum Snow GTX Insulated Boot Video

Garmont's Momentum Snow GTX uses a GORE-TEX waterproof/breathable lining and 400 grams of thinsulate insulation. The Momentum Snow is a perfect winter boot for snowshoeing on long day hikes and heavy snow fall. The exterior of the boot is constructed from waterproof leather and mesh. This makes the upper lightweight and durable. The support under this boot for your foot is an EVA midsole. It has a very lightweight cushioning to it, it keeps the weight of the boot down. It also has a TPU spine which is a thermoplastic shank. This creates some better heel stability and protection for the forefoot from roots and rocks or logs. Garmont uses a winter grip outsole. It's composed of bi-density rubber for grip on both hard and soft surfaces. And they do use wide, x-shaped traction lugs that really help you with footing on snow, ice and slippery mud. Some other really nice features are going to be the lacing system. You're going to get a full lacing system all the way up the boot. This offers a secure fit so you can fit the toe over the ankle of the boot so the boot will fit securely on your foot. The other nice thing about this lacing is you get a very low profile webbing lace system. What this does, is it offers a very smooth movement in and out of a snowshoe binding. There are no hooks or eyelets here to catch on parts of snowshoe bindings. Assuming that you're wearing this in the snow and you may be using a gaiter, Garmont has added a small D-ring that's actually clipped in and attached to that leather part of the boot so it's quite secure and this is as your gaiter comes down the boot, many gaiters have a metal clip that is designed to clip into that D-ring and hold your gaiter to the toe of the boot. The Momentum Snow does have a gusseted tongue, but it allows a wide opening of the boot so you can easily fit it with thick socks and while they do have this trim lacing system with the Nylon webbing, at the top here where you really need the ankle support, you have two full metal eyelets that are anchored on a piece of leather and not the mesh so it is a durable boot and it is well put together. Waterproof GORE-TEX construction and the 400 grams of insulation in this boot do make it a really solid winter boot. It's designed to keep your feet warm and dry out in the snow, out in wet weather. Again, you've got great traction here, so it's going to be a good all-around winter boot.
