Polartec NeoShell fabrics not only make the Marmot Men’s Zion Jacket lightweight and waterproof, but also provide breathability and stretch for skiing, winter hiking, backpacking, climbing or mountaineering.

I am wearing Marmot’s men’s Zion jacket. This innovative piece is a hybrid soft shell, hard shell piece. It has got the stretch, the comfort, the breathability of a soft shell, but the water proof of a hard shell.
The Zion jacket is constructed of polar tech neo shell fabric and it is that construction that gives it the dual qualities of a hard shell and a soft shell. It does have stretch and Marmot uses its angel wing construction. So however you move during aerobic activities, winter snow sports, back packing, hiking, even just around town wear, it moves with you. So super comfortable. There is a fleece back lining on this jacket as well so it has nice next to skin comfort. The cut is athletic enough that you could wear layers over top of it or layers beneath it, but it really is a great outer wear piece.
As far as fit is concerned, you do have Velcro closures or adjustment points there on the end of the sleeves. So keeps those sleeves from riding up. It is a fairly long cut on those sleeves. Again, it certainly is an all weather piece so there is a certain expectation that you may very well have gloves beneath it. Also dual points of adjustability here on the hem. It is a hooded jacket as well. So you have got that additional protection and there are points of adjustability on the hood to insure that you have got a great get whether you have got it on as a standalone or you are wearing it over top of a helmet.
Nice pocketing on the Zion jacket. I should also mention that all of the zippers are highly weather resistant so, again, in keeping with the water proof design of the jacket. You have got two deep zippered pockets here on the front for hands and storing all kinds of stuff. You have got a small zippered pocket on the sleeve. Also a zippered Napoleon pocket on the chest. And there is a media pass through on that pocket. So if you are wear-ing headphones listening to an mp3 that pocket is ideal for electronic devices.
There is also one additional zippered pocket here on the interior of the jacket.
While the polar tech neo shell fabric is waterproof, wind resistant and abrasion resistant, Marmot does bolster the shoulders with a bit of texturing that is even more abrasion re-sistant and also has a little bit of grip. So if you are wearing a pack, pack straps don’t wear away at the fabric and actually the pack stays in place better than it would without that feature.
For any and all types of winter activities, snow sports, the Zion jacket really is a tremen-dously versatile piece. Instead of needing a stand alone hard shell and a soft shell, you have got it all rolled into one in the Marmot Zion jacket.
