Marmot Limelight 2P Tent Video

This is the Marmot Limelight 2P. It’s a 3-Season tent with a 3-pole structure and a single D-shaped door so let’s take a look at some of the features that make this a great tent for backcountry travel. The Limelight 2P weighs in at about 5 pounds, which when split between two backpackers is a really nice, easy load to carry for a very good, watertight, weather proof structure. As you can see there is room for two people in here with standard 20 inch wide sleeping pads, you’ve got a single door with two clips to hold it out of the way and Marmot does include a footprint and a gear loft. There are tabs at the top here to clip that gear loft into, allowing you to stow smaller items like headlamps, where they are easy to reach and there are also some mesh pockets in the corners of the tent to hold other small items. So, the tent body is constructed out of mesh and nylon paneling. This gives the tent really good airflow, especially with the strip of mesh at the bottom here, the top of the tent and through the door. So if the weather is humid damp or you have condensation built up from cold weather, the strategic placement of the mesh paneling here will allow air to move through the tent and eliminate as much of that discomfort as possible. You still have this nylon panel across the front and main body of the tent so that’s going to offer some privacy and protection as well. For the pole structure on the Limelight 2P Marmot uses a DAC Pressfit, this is an aluminum pole that fits together well and is sturdy and lightweight. You do have a 3-pole design with your two blue poles here which are crossing in an X-shape and then that third brow pole in the orange color is what gives the tent a lot of its structure and support. So with higher winds or a bit of snow if you’re out at that time of year, you’ve got some support for that. The other thing this brow pole is doing is pulling the sidewalls of the tent out a bit which gives you a lot more livability space inside this tent for two people to be able to sit up and be comfortable. The pole structure of the Marmot Limelight 2P connects to the tent through a series of double clips. At the corners the poles of the Limelight 2P fit into a grommet and the red tab is color coded to match up with the fly so you know exactly which corner the fly buckles into and here is the buckle that the fly will clip into. We’ll take a look at the Limelight 2P with the fly on it. The fly is fully weather proof and seam sealed and ready to go with a small window weld on the front to take a look at weather from inside the tent. The vestibule is a descent space that allows you to stow to packs and two pairs of boots, a couple of pairs of trekking poles. The door has a rain flap here with velcro tabs for security and jingle free zipper pulls. That’s the Limelight 2P by Marmot.
