Exped MultiMat Video
Hi everybody, Kaj here with Exped and today I want to show you the Exped Multimat. This is a sleeper product in our line because it is super useful. You can use it for so many things that we are going to show you just a few of them, just to give you an idea of how much can be done with Multimats. So it comes in its own stuffsack and I am going to pop it out. It is E.V.A. foam on the grey backside which is 2 millimeters of E.V.A. foam covered with ripstop nylon on one side. So that makes it waterproof and also quite insulative for its weight. So you can lay it out and use it as a picnic mat. We find when we are paddling or hiking and you want to stop in wet conditions you can fit 3 to 4 people sitting on Multimat and have a picnic on it, so it works that way. Another way that you can use this guy is to fold it in half lengthwise, like so, and you now have essentially 4 millimeters of E.V.A. foam. That will give you a little bit greater R value and you could use it as a full length sleeping mat. If you want, you could fold it in half again, and now you have got 8 millimeters of E.V. A. foam and you have increased your R value yet again. Now this is not the most comfortable mat that we sell, by a long shot, we have 10 centimeter thick mats, but if you are going superlight and you are going compact this is a great way to do it. You can fold it in half again and I can’t even do the math on how many times we have doubled, tripled, quadrupled that R value and now you can use it as a sit pad. If you fold it yet again, you have got an even more comfortable sit pad. So that is a few of the ways that you can use this as a pad, but another thing that you can do is if you are taking a bottle of wine somewhere you would place the bottle of wine right here and roll it up all the way and the wine is protected on the inside. You can use it as a vestibule liner. As you can see we have a tent set up right behind us and you can put it right in front of the tent and now you can leave your gear outside or fold it in half and literally line the vestibule with it. You can even pull it out in the middle of the day and get a couple people underneath it to get out of the rain. So use it for as many things as you can imagine and shoot us an email to tell us what you have found useful with this piece.
