Proper Fitting of Deuter Backpacks

Video by Deuter
No matter how good a pack looks, if it doesn't fit properly it won't do you much good. Deuter backpacks do both. Torso adjustability and other adjustment options ensure a comfortable fit.

Even the best looking pack is no use at all if it doesn’t fit properly. A key factor here is that the backpack back length matches that of its wearer. Once this is established, loosen all straps and put the backpack on your back, then fasten the hip belt and tighten it. It is important that the padded part of the hip fins sit directly on the hip bone.

Next, tighten up the shoulder straps to the point where the padded section of the shoulder strap ends where the strap runs underneath the armpit to avoid unnecessary chafing. The padded section of the shoulder strap should form an arch shape which encircles the shoulder. The strap anchor point should not sit too high; otherwise the straps will rub on the neck.

The chest strap is the fastened to prevent the shoulder straps from slipping. By pulling on the position adjuster straps, the pack can be pulled in closer to stabilize the load. The load can be further stabilized by tightening the compression straps on the hip fins.
