A seasoned distance runner, ultramarathoner and adventurer, Peter Bakwin lent his name and input to the PB Adventure Vest, a lightweight pack that boasts the performance features needed for mixed running and climbing explorations.
Adventurer Peter Bakwin has run more than 75 marathons and ultramarathons and established numerous "fastest known times", all while searching for the perfect pack. Now with Ultimate Direction’s help, he built his own, the PB Adventure Vest. Despite weighing a mere 16 ounces, the vest boasts an impressive amount of storage and an integrated single-pull compression system to keep contents balanced and secure. Instead of worrying about how your pack is performing, you can concentrate on pushing deeper and deeper into the backcountry.
The PB Adventure Vest is constructed of lightweight SilNylon and breathable mesh. Despite weighing just a pound, the pack can effectively carry two full water bottles, a full hydration bladder (sold separately) and a ton of backcountry essentials. Padded/ventilated strapping and edging throughout the pack body provide a comfortable fit and breathable performance. Dual sternum straps with sliding adjustability help you to dial in fit. To further ensure a proper fit, the PB Adventure Vest is available in Small/Medium (23"-36" chest measurement) and Medium/Large (31"-40") sizes. NOTE: When full of gear, the vest will fit smaller.
There are two stacked, zippered main compartments on the PB Adventure Vest. The one closest to the body can safely stow a hydration bladder and expands to accommodate a full load of gear. On the face of the pack, a zig-zag bungee attachment system is a perfect spot for securing gloves, discarded layers or other items you want to keep readily accessible. Two large, zippered mesh lat pockets gobble up a ton of gear and have stash space wedged in behind them. On the chest portion of the harness there are twin water bottle pockets which conveniently secure two 20 oz Bottles with Kicker Valves (included). These iconic bottles provide efficient, leakproof performance and have long been a go-to choice for trail runners.
Per Peter’s input, there is a dedicated GPS/safety beacon pocket on the front portion of the harness as well as a second zippered pocket to balance things out on the other side. Numerous other intuitively placed pockets live on the front portion of the pack, serving as ideal stow options for gels, electrolytes, cell phones and other essentials. Cinch-down features on the water bottle pockets also allow them to safely stash cameras and other electronics. Other nice touches include an integrated safety whistle, trekking pole loops and an ice axe loop.
