The versatile Ultimate Direction Fastpack 35 enables hikers and adventurers to push deep into the backcountry at a pace not possible in a larger, more cumbersome pack.

The pack is constructed of lightweight but durable 100D Robic Triple-Ripstop and Power Span Stretch mesh. Despite weighing just 25 ounces, the pack can effectively carry two full water bottles (not included), a full hydration bladder (sold separately), and a ton of backcountry essentials. Padded/ventilated strapping and edging throughout the pack body provide a comfortable fit and breathable performance. Ultimate Direction’s unique InfiKnit construction incorporates the shoulder straps and backpanel into a single, seamless piece that greatly cuts down on hot spots and maximizes comfort and fit by mirroring the contours of your body. Dual sternum straps with sliding adjustability help you to really dial in fit. A webbing waist belt further stabilizes the pack and can be removed entirely when you’re carrying light and looking to shave every unnecessary ounce. The pack is available in Small/Medium (26"-44" chest measurement) and Medium/Large (30"-50") sizes. NOTE: When full of gear, the vest will fit smaller.

The pack offers 2307 cubic inch (37.8L) storage capacity. The main compartment has a roll-top closure that protects contents and enables the pack to cinch down to small when not filled to full capacity. Integrated side compression straps also help in load stabilization whether the pack is full or relatively empty. On the face of the pack is a large, elastic shove-it pocket that easily stows discarded layers and other essential gear. Large mesh side pockets are ideal for water bottles or other gear. On the chest portion of the harness there are multiple pockets, two of which are large enough to carry water bottles (not included). The pack also features numerous lash points, including dual low-profile daisy chain trekking pole attachments and ice axe loops.

Dislikes: Not very durable. Poor fit. Very hot in summer.

Excellent - One of few UL packs for fastpacking
Reviewed by Michael L. - August 13, 2017

Likes: Comfortable, Intelligent design for water options; fast access; phone/camera in waterproof front pocket with easy access to run headphones out of the top and easier access for actually taking pictures, plenty of space for long distance section or thru hike. The front support feels better when fastpacking or trail running than the traditional style hiking packs. Optional belt to chose whether you need or prefer it, but plenty of support with the front clasps to only need it when under heavy loads. Dries fast, can actually be used for running without the pack moving. Only when carrying just water and a rain shell does it have a little but not massive amount of movement.

Dislikes: Small, medium and large options would be better to perfectly dial in fit since people are going to go fast in this, but not a major issue. Ability to add thicker support in straps could be a nice option and the ability to adjust the load up with pulls could be a good feature. Osprey Atmos sits on the shelf gathering dust.
