Taking the streamlined design that has made Ultimate Direction Signature Series running vests so popular, the Fastpack 25 enables hikers and adventurers to push deep into the backcountry at a pace not possible in a larger, more cumbersome pack.
The pack is constructed of lightweight but durable 100D Robic Triple-Ripstop and Power Span Stretch mesh. Despite weighing just 19.4 ounces, the pack can effectively carry two full water bottles (not included), a full hydration bladder (sold separately), and a ton of backcountry essentials. Padded/ventilated strapping and edging throughout the pack body provide a comfortable fit and breathable performance. Ultimate Direction’s unique InfiKnit construction incorporates the shoulder straps and backpanel into a single, seamless piece that greatly cuts down on hot spots and maximizes comfort and fit by mirroring the contours of your body. Dual sternum straps with sliding adjustability help you to really dial in fit. The pack is available in Small/Medium (25"-40" chest measurement) and Medium/Large (30"-48") sizes. NOTE: When full of gear, the vest will fit smaller.
The pack offers 1782 cubic inch (29.2L) storage capacity. The main compartment has a roll-top closure that protects contents and enables the pack to cinch down to small when not filled to full capacity. Integrated side compression straps also help in load stabilization whether the pack is full or relatively empty. On the face of the pack is a large, elastic shove-it pocket that easily stows discarded layers and other essential gear. Large mesh side pockets are ideal for water bottles or other gear. On the chest portion of the harness there are multiple pockets, two of which are large enough to carry water bottles (not included). The pack also features numerous lash points, including dual low-profile daisy chain trekking pole attachments and ice axe loops.

- Killer little pack
Likes: I was in the market for a running vest but just couldn't find one that fit the way I wanted. Hesitantly, I ordered this little bag. I say hesitantly because I already have a few day packs and didn't really need another one. Well, at least that's what I thought. This thing has single-handedly wiped out other packs on my shelf. When packed properly it fits nicely and carries well. I love all the pockets up front. Perfect place to store a phone and snacks. I've put 750ml water bottles in them, but it is kind of awkward since the pockets sit high up the strap. My 600ml soft flasks work nicely. I've been able to fit a 2 man tent, sleeping pad, 30 degree quilt, puffy, first aid kit, headlamp, water filter, 4 days of food and still had room for a few small things in the main compartment. That still leaves the awesome front and side mesh pockets to load up. The mesh is very well done on these, compliant but robust. That setup is about 15lbs wet and that's about the max comfort for me. Overall, a very robust, versatile, bounce free, overnight pack/vest.
Dislikes: The buckles on the compression and chest straps suck. I can't figure out why they would use such a fiddly one-way setup on a pack meant for speed. It's a small problem but frustrating at times.
- Exactly what I expected
Likes: Comfortable for running with moderate loads. The pockets and water in front make for easy access while moving. Large stretching pockets and roll tops give a lot of options for weight distribution.
Dislikes: Haven't come across any yet. Only difficulty was trying to decide which size to buy.
- Great day hiking pack.
