The Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Camper inflatable sleeping mattress is a lightweight, packable option for family camping. The NeoAir Camper's innovative design makes it more stable and comfortable than traditional “blow up” pads.
The Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Camper is the perfect inflatable sleeping mat that is going to give you comfort while you are camping or traveling.
As the name suggests, it is meant for camping, family camping, car camping. So it doesn’t have as small of a pack size or as light of weight as some of Therm-a-Rest’s ultra light-weight NeoAir pads, but it provides a lot of comfort. And just going through the features, the stand out feature, I think for this mat, is the baffle design and the fully inflatable feature of it.
So, as you can see, the baffles here are more horizontal baffles. And that is different from your traditional raft style inflatable pads that have those long horizontal baffles. You can inflate this fully and not feel like you are on an inflatable raft. So these really give a nice mattress, a nice bed style feel. And with this NeoAir design, you really can pack this down to be pretty small. So that is great when you are trying to pack small for camping or for traveling.
The material here is a very durable material. Unlike the ultra lightweight pads, this is going to give you a lot of durability against rocks and sticks and that kind of thing. It is going to last a really long time.
Now with that durable material, it makes it a little bit heavier weight, but if you are just camping or traveling you don’t need it to be that light weight.
When this pad is fully inflated it is a full three inches thick, which is really comfortable. It gives you a lot of clearance from the ground. This is a regular size. It comes in three sizes, regular, large and extra large. The regular is 20 inches wide, 72 inches long. The large is 25 inches wide and 77 inches long. And the extra large is 30 inches wide and 77 inches long. So you can definitely have sprawling comfort there.
For me, I enjoy the smaller pack size of a smaller pad, so I would choose the regular, but if you are someone who moves around in your sleep or you are just wanting more sprawling comfort, you could go with the large or the extra large size.
Now this is a fully inflatable pad. There is no foam on the inside that expands. So you do have a really easy to use inflation valve here. And I have this inflated pretty full right now. Some people prefer after they inflate the pad by mouth, you know, inflate it all the way and then once you are laying on it, our can actually reach back behind you and adjust that tension or, you know, how firm you want the mattress to be. They make it really easy. You can make minor adjustments. And on some other sleeping pads I have seen that have a valve, it is either always open or always closed. So with this you can just let a little bit of air out at a time and they make it really simple.
Inflating this pad is pretty easy. As I said, you do have to fully inflate it. So it takes a little bit of time, but once it is fully inflated and once you are, you know, have a really great night’s sleep on it, it is really easy to deflate as well. So you are not struggling with a mat-tress to try and compress it down. Basically you just have to fully open that valve and let all of the air out. It basically does the work for you.
The material on the top has a brushed finish. So there is some sleeping pads out there that are noisy or crinkly when you lay on them or when you move around on them. And this brushed material isn't very noisy at all. So, as you can see, when I am pushing on this, moving on it, it makes a little bit of noise, but it is not crunchy or crinkly if that is something that would bother you as you are sleeping.
This does come with an included stuff sack and a repair kit. It is an emergency field repair kit. It is very lightweight and it allows you, if you were to puncture the pad at all, you can repair it while you are camping, repair it on the field. It makes it really simple. And for this comfortable of a mat, you can definitely compress it down to a pretty small pack size.
With the comfort and the durability that you can expect from Therm-a-Rest, this is a great option for camping or traveling when you want something that is lightweight, but also very comfortable.
