A lightweight, durable option for year round backpacking, the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir All Season Inflatable Sleeping Pad has a warm R value of 4.9. Let’s take a closer look at the unique design features and the innovative technology that makes this such a great year round option.
Unlike traditional inflatable sleeping pads that tend to have just a small number of vertical baffles, the NeoAir All Season has a large number of horizontal baffles. It makes for a much more stable, comfortable base. Sometimes with those vertical baffles it is almost like you can feel each of them. It can also have a bit of a pool rafty feel as you are laying on the pad. And that really goes away with this horizontal baffle design. So very stable, again, very supportive, very comfortable.
It also helps cut down on weight. This is an inflatable sleeping pad, but it blows up pretty quickly. And part of it is due to that design.
Internally, out of view here on the pad, there is a truss system. It is a stacked layer design that actually helps to take the warmth of your body and rather than allowing that warmth to escape, it projects that heat back up towards. So while it isn’t an insulated pad, there is no insulation inside here, it still has that 4.9 R value, which far exceeds most uninsulated inflatable sleeping pads. Makes this a four season, rather than just a three season option.
You can see that it is a full rectangular cut to the pad. It doesn't taper away or cut corners like some lightweight sleeping pads do. The overall design here, however, still lets this check in at well under two pounds.
We are looking at the regular. So 72 inches in length, 20 inches wide and it is just one pound nine ounces. It comes in a smaller medium size which is only 66 inches in length. It also comes in a large which is a full 77 inches in length and you pick up some width. It is actually 25 inches wide. But in each instance they still pack down quite small and in either size option are certainly a back pack worthy option.
Adding additional value Therm-a-Rest includes a draw string closure stuff sack with each of the pads. And also throws in an instant field repair kit. So should you run into anything on your trip, some kind of abrasion or tear, a puncture that would otherwise cause you to not enjoy your trip at all, you can make those repairs and get yourself back home.
The Therm-a-Rest NeoAir All Season Sleeping Pad, again, that lightweight packability, that warm R value, just a great year round option for backpacking.
