Komperdell T3 Ascent Ti trekking poles are ideal for snowshoeing, backpacking, or mountaineering. Easy-to-use external locks, durable aluminum construction, and extended length grips combine to make these 3-section poles versatile, year-round performers.
The Komperdell T3 Ascent Ti Trekking Poles are versatile for a variety of adventures. They are really easy to use and they are extremely durable. So the first thing that stands out to me about these poles is you have got a three section aluminum construction here. So with that aluminum you have a lot of durability, but they keep the weight down pretty low for a three section pole. You have two external locking mechanisms here. And these locks couldn’t be any easier to use. So you simply flick it open with your thumb, adjust it to your preferred height and then flick it closed.
A stand out feature here is that you can adjust these poles all the way down to 115 centimeters, all the way up to 150 centimeters. So that makes it great for a variety of conditions for a variety of users. You are going to be able to adjust this, these poles to the proper height. So 150 centimeters is really tall for such a lightweight pole. So once you have got that adjusted, let’s say we go to 135 centimeters. I am going to go ahead and adjust the lower section as well. So same thing, flick it open with your thumb, adjust that out to where it says: Extend to here. Now since this bottom section does taper down into a narrower part at the bottom, you do need to extend it out to that section. So you just extend it to there and then you know you have got the trekking pole set up correctly to your proper height with those height designations here on the upper section of the pole.
So extremely easy to use and since you do have three sections you can collapse it down to be a pretty small pack size.
If I move up to the grip here you have a nice ergonomic foam grip. The thing I love about foam grips is that they are great in all different temperatures. So in warmer weather if you begin to perspire foam is really great against wicking away that sweat. And in cold temperatures in snowy conditions when you are wearing gloves, gloves work really well on foam. And you also can’t feel the cold through that foam. So if you are in colder conditions and you are not wearing gloves you are going to be nice and protected there with that foam.
And then on the top of this grip you do have kind of a flatter top and you are able to palm the top of the pole if you need to use them that way. You have an adjustable strap that is really easy to adjust, just to take that strain off of your wrists.
Moving down the pole it does have an extended foam grip here and this is great in a variety of conditions when you are, maybe, going up hill and you want to grab the hill at a different spot and you don’t have time to make those adjustments down on the locking mechanisms. So you can just grab the pole at a lower spot, use that, you know, to get up the hill or on steep ascents. So really great feature there. It doesn’t add a lot of weight to the pole, but it definitely makes a big difference when you are using the pole in that way.
Moving down to the bottom you have Komperdell’s lightweight, but very durable carbide tungsten flex tips. The tip here is durable. It has a little bit of flex in case you get it stuck between two rocks. That protects the rest of the pole, but then down there on the bottom you have that carbide tungsten tip that is going to give you really good traction on snow and on trails. And it also comes with a basket here. So baskets are really easy to use. You just put them on the bottom of the pole there and give a little bit of a turn. If you do need deep powder baskets for winter conditions you can certainly buy other baskets that are a little bit wider in diameter, but baskets that come with are really great for just a variety of conditions there.
Overall the Komperdell T3 Ascent Ti Poles are durable, they are lightweight and you can use them in a multitude of adventures.
