Komperdell T2 Ascent Ti trekking poles are ideal for snowshoeing, backpacking, or mountaineering. Easy-to-use external locks, durable aluminum construction, and extended length grips combine to make these 2-section poles versatile, year-round performers.
Lightweight, yet durable and extremely easy to use, the Komperdell T2 Ascent Ti Trekking Poles are perfect for a variety of conditions from snowshoeing to backpacking to mountaineering, anything you can throw at it. These trekking poles are going to be great.
The first thing I want to point out is these are made from lightweight aluminum. So you have a two section pole here. And with just these two shaft sections they are able to get the weight down pretty low. So even though they are pretty lightweight for an aluminum pole, they are extremely durable. You have one external locking mechanism here and it couldn’t be any easier to use. So all you have to do is flick it open with your thumb. It opens that lever lock and then you can adjust the poles to your preferred height. The other benefit to having just a two section trekking pole here is that you can adjust these from all the way down to 115 centimeters all the way up to 150 centimeters which is really tall for such a lightweight pole. So you can see it says: Stop, right there at the top right at 150 centimeters. So you are getting a lot of versatility out of these trekking poles. So once you adjust it to your preferred height, all you have to do is flick that closed with your thumb. It is easy to maneuver and it is a very, very strong pole. So easy to use locking mechanism there.
The other thing that stands out to me about this pole is the way the grip is designed and this extension down below the grip. So you have got a really ergonomic grip here on the top. It is made of durable foam. And the thing I really like about foam grips on trekking poles is that you can use them in virtually any temperature. In the warmer temperatures it is really great against sweat and so it is going to wick really well. It is going to give you a really nice grip and then in very cold temperatures foam works really great with gloves. You are not going to feel the cold through that foam, so it is really nice and foam is very durable. You have kind of an egg shaped top here, so if you do need to palm the top of the pole and use it in that way, you certainly can do that. And then you have a really easy to adjust and comfortable strap.
Now down here below the grip you do have a foam extension. So if you are using this in different conditions, you know, going up hill, going down hill, you don’t have to make those fast adjustments with that locking mechanism. You can just grab the pole at a lower spot. And this is a bigger extension than I have seen on some other trekking poles. So it gives you a lot of versatility. If you are going just for a short uphill and you need to grab the pole at a different spot, it makes it really, really easy to use.
Going down to the tip here you have a tungsten carbide flex tip. This is kind of a flexible tip on the bottom where if you do get this caught between two rocks or something like that, it is going to protect the shaft sections of the poles. But it is also a very durable tip. You have carbide on the end and that gives really good grip on the trail and against ice and snow.
They do also come with baskets. So if you need those baskets, they are really easy to just put on there and you can certainly purchase other baskets from Komperdell if you do need a wider diameter basket for deep powder conditions. But overall the Komperdell T2 Ascent Ti Trekking poles are really versatile. They are lightweight and they are durable for a variety of conditions.
