Designed to fit snugly across the top of your Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO) hammock (sold separately) and offer warmth for chilly nights, the ENO Spark Top Quilt extends your hammock camping season. An average temperature rating of 50 degrees F makes the quilt perfect for summer, late spring, or early fall backpacking or camping.
We are taking a look at the Eagles Nest Outfitters Spark 2 Top Quilt. This is a quilt designed to go into your hammock over top of you to keep you warm on those chilly summer nights, early fall, late spring. It has got a temperature rating of about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, so it is definitely lightweight. It is meant to just take that chill off when you are hammock camping into some of those shoulder seasons.
It does go over top of you in your hammock and it reminds me of a sleeping bag, but it doesn’t have that side zipper and all of the things that you would fumble with in a sleeping bag inside of a hammock. So the top part of this is actually straight across. It is really nice to kind of tuck around you and it just acts like a quilt that way. But towards the bottom you do have a convertible foot box. So something I really like about this, it really differentiates other types of blankets and other types of quilts. It works really well inside a hammock. So it tapers down into the bottom here and you do have some snaps and Velcro here toward the bottom. That way you can create a foot box down at the bottom and just really have a nice nest there inside your hammock.
This convertible foot box can be cinched down so all you have to do, cinch it down there toward the bottom and you have something similar to the bottom of a sleeping bag. And that is going to help on thermal efficiency. If you need to batten everything down and stay inside of that blanket. But then if it is a little bit warmer and you need to vent, you can open that back up and use it more like a blanket, open up the bottom and use it like a blanket, so it is really convenient. You have got synthetic insulation here. So synthetic is great against moisture against humidity. It is not going to take on a lot of water, a lot of moisture and it is pretty lightweight. So you have got synthetic fill in there and then on the outside you have nylon rip stop fabric. It is coated with a durable, water repellent finish. So you definitely have a lot of protection against maybe a light rain, against mist or dew in the morning. It is not going to take on a lot of water. If it does get wet it is going to dry out really quickly. So that is something that I really like about this piece as well. And if you definitely need it to be down under that 50 degree temperature rating, you can pair it with an under quilt, Eagles Nest Outfitters Under Quilt. That is obviously sold separately, but that hangs under your hammock and helps with thermal efficiency as well.
The dimensions here, it is about 80 inches long and 50 inches from side to side. So it is going to fit in virtually any hammock. It is going to work well with any Eagles Nest Outfitters Hammock. And then if you are using a double hammock, you have got two people, you know, you could wrap this around both of you or you can get two of these to work in a double hammock.
It does come with an included stuff sack. So this is just nylon rip stop stuff sack. It packs down to be pretty small, definitely smaller than a regular sleeping bag. So all the features you get here it weighs around 27 ounces, so it is definitely a backpacking option. And it is just going to help you stay a little bit warmer and nice and cozy in your hammock throughout the summer and throughout those shoulder seasons.
It is the Eagles Nest Outfitters Spark 2 Top Quilt.
