The Sierra Designs Men's DriDown Hoody features treated 800-fill duck down insulation to provide a high level of warmth for everything from winter backpacking to climbing to wear around town in cold winter weather conditions.
Due to the high loft and extreme compressibility of the 800-fill power duck down, the DriDown Hoody can be packed down small into the integrated reversible hand pocket and easily stowed in a pack. Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, the feathers and fibers of down have an incredibly soft, comfortable feel, and despite advances in synthetic materials, continue to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation available. The one inherent weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet, but DriDown performs differently. Employing a unique, innovative polymer application, DriDown actually creates a hydrophobic finish on each individual plume of down. This treatment results in insulation that stays dry 10 times longer and dries 30% faster than untreated down jackets. Perhaps most impressively, this allows the insulation to retain 2 times more loft than untreated down, which translates into maintained warmth that untreated down jackets simply cannot achieve.
The DriDown Hoody contains a membrane within its shell to provide a higher level of warmth and weather resistance than many down jackets, and a light PU-coating on the durable 20D ripstop fabric provides extra protection against the elements. Other features of the DriDown Hoody include a hat-compatible adjustable hood that folds into a protective collar, a center front zipper that secures the hood around the face without the need for a drawcord, an insulated storm flap with anti-snag design and elasticized cuffs with sealed thumbholes. Two insulated hand warmer pockets positioned to be accessible above a pack hipbelt are ready to warm chilly hands.
The Sierra Designs Men's DriDown Hoody has a regular cut to fit well over light and mid-weight layers or under weatherproof shells and is available in your choice of color and size.
