A larger, roomier version of the award-winning Backcountry Bed, the Sierra Designs Frontcountry Bed 35 Degree zipperless sleeping bag provides similar comfort to your bed at home whether you are a back, side, or stomach sleeper.

The bag’s synthetic insulation dries much faster than down and provides warmth even when wet. This is particularly important if you'll be camping in wet weather or humid climates. The bag’s 50D polyester ripstop shell fabric further protects the insulation from the elements and a 68D polyester taffeta lining provides internal comfort.

By eliminating zippers, Sierra Designs has created a sleeping bag that’s more similar to your down comforter at home than a traditional sleeping bag, though without a comforter’s annoying ability to shift off your body in the middle of the night. You get in and out of the generously-cut rectangular through a unique catenary shaped opening that’s smaller than the width of the bag to seal out drafts even when you’re shifting inside. Once settled in, the versatile integrated comforter fits naturally around you and conforms to your preferred sleeping position while also allowing you to easily adjust for varying temperatures. Insulated pockets in the comforter provide a cozy place for your arms and hands to stay warm if you’re not cocooned down inside the bag. They also allow you to easily tuck the sides of the comforter around and beneath you when temperatures drop. The top of the bag also allows you to tuck your head inside for insulated warmth much like a hood. The top is also cut broadly enough to accommodate the use of a standard pillow. A unique zipperless foot vent allows you to extend your feet out of the bottom of the bag in balmy weather but effectively retains heat when temperatures require it.

Beyond the zipperless construction, the bag has no additional cords or Velcro to get in the way of comfort, though it does feature a sleeping pad sleeve (pad not included) on the bottom to allow you to even better create a bed-like sleeping experience while spending the night outside.

The Sierra Designs Frontcountry Bed 35 Degree sleeping bag is available in Regular (fits up to 6' 0") and Long (up to 6' 6") sizes. A stuff sack is included.

  • Patent pending zipperless design
  • Oversized integrated comforter
  • Insulated hand and arm pockets to seal out drafts
  • Patented self sealing foot vent
  • Sleeping pad sleeve

Some really nice features...

Likes: I hate regular sleeping bags and each one that I've had becomes a comforter for tent or car camping. Which isn't a terrible thing, but makes for more equipment to take. The design of the Sierra Frontcountry was intriguing and I'm glad I bought it. I did not feel claustrophobic and have plenty of room when I turn over. I also like that my pillow has a place to rest upon so that there is less reason for it to migrate during sleep. Finally, I'm 5'9" and ordered the long. At first I thought it might be a bit too lengthy, but I like the additional girth of 72" since I have very wide hips for my size.

Dislikes: Okay, there are buttons on the bottom. Terrible design as part of a sleeping pad pocket. I envision removing them at some point. Also, the color is an aggressive, electric blue. Not my favorite.

Love this bed!

Likes: A friend at work turned me on to this bag because he loves his so much, so I bought one. I use it for my bedding when I'm at work onboard the boat, and It's the perfect weight/warmth. Super soft fabric inside, and the way it's made with the blanket-like flap is ingenious. The best part though, is the opening at the footbox that lets you stick your feet out or pull them back inside effortlessly to regulate your temperature. Sierra Designs clearly did some R&D on this bag, and it shows. I give it an A+!

Dislikes: What's not to like?
