Employing weather-resistant 650+ water-resistant duck down insulation and lightweight fabrics the Sea to Summit Women’s Trek I sleeping bag has a suggested temperature rating of 28 degrees Fahrenheit.
Catering to female campers and backpackers Sea to Summit’s women-specific sleeping bags are cut shorter provide more room at the hips use more insulation and strategically distribute insulation in the foot and torso to address areas where women frequently point to heat loss. Adding an extra measure of comfort they even include a layer of Thermolite at the feet!
The bag is insulated with 650+ fill Ultra-Dry Down insulation. Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties the feathers and fibers of down have an incredibly soft comfortable feel and despite advances in synthetic materials continue to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation available. The one weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet but the Women’s Trek I’s insulation has been treated to add water-repellency allow it to dry faster if it should become wet and most importantly enable it to retain much of its insulating qualities even while wet. The bag’s PermaShell fabric also has a DWR treatment to further protect the insulation from the elements. Soft internal fabrics provide next-to-skin comfort.
The tapered rectangular shape of the bag provides a bit more comfort than restrictive mummy bags while still ensuring thermal efficiency. This efficiency is bolstered by horizontal baffles and 3D side walls that provide the down fill with space to loft while making certain that it doesn’t migrate and create dead spots. A contoured insulated hood adds additional warmth and has built-in adjustability to draw it close in cold temperatures. An insulated draft tube behind the full-length zipper helps to keep cold air from finding its way inside. That zipper continues around the foot of the bag enabling it be unzipped completely for use as a blanket or comforter. A zippered internal pocket is a great place to stash valuables.
Available in your choice of Regular (fits to 5’ 7”) and Long (fits to 5’ 10”) size options each Sea to Summit Women’s Trek I sleeping bag includes an Ultra-Sil compression bag and a hybrid storage cell/laundry bag.

- Everything I needed
Likes: This is my first backpacking and down sleeping bag (after owning 3 traditional car camping sleeping bags). It is warm and cozy. The duck feathers do have a different smell to them that takes some getting used to (or require a first wash and good dry first). It is in fact water resistant. A little moisture on seeping through the tent floor on this trip tested the bag. I really like the bags this sleeping bag comes with. One can be zipped to a medium size or use the draw string and the bag becomes big enough for a small adult to climb inside. It also comes with its own (non waterproof) red and black compression bag.
Dislikes: The first night at 55-60F (sleeping in sweats and a t-shirt) I had to unzip the bottom, and side, and use it more like a quilt, to let some more air circulate. (love this feature). Another night it got down to 40-45 and I had zip myself all the way back up. I usually have cold feet but sleep warm otherwise. No cold feet problem using this bag, but clearly for this to be comfortable in 30F I would need to dress in something warmer than medium weight sweats and t-shirt.
