With an R-value of 3.3, a compact packed size, and a weight of just over a pound, the inflatable Sea to Summit UltraLight Insulated Mat is ready-made for 3-season backpacking. It even comes with an innovative pump sack that adds additional value by aiding in inflation.
Interconnected chambers formed by a dot-welded pattern, the pad’s unique Air Sprung Cells create a supportive sleeping base that better conforms to your sleeping body than traditional vertical or horizontal baffles while keeping both weight and packed size to a minimum.
The 40D ripstop nylon face fabric and internal extrusion-laminated TPU coating bolster durability and longevity of the pad on both the outside and the inside. An anti-microbial treatment in the TPU prevents any moisture introduced to the interior of the pad from causing deterioration issues. An included innovative pump sack makes inflation a snap and cuts down even further on moisture concerns. It's also custom-cut to provide a compact fit for the deflated pad.
Dual thermal technologies equip the UltraLight Insulated Mat for use in colder temperatures. A lightweight, non-woven metalized fabric, Exkin Platinum creates an internal radiant barrier that keeps the warmth of your body from dissipating. This pliable fabric is also quieter than some “crinklier” fabrics used to achieve heat reflectivity. Additionally, the Thermolite HL-1 synthetic insulation is nestled inside the Air Sprung Cells, delivering high-loft responsiveness and an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio.
A stand-out feature on Sea to Summit pads is the low-profile multi-function valve. A one-way design allows you to blow up the pad without any fuss and an internal button lets you make micro adjustments to firmness. A larger port beneath the top portion of the valve makes deflation quick and easy. Additionally, by setting flush to the surface of the pad, the valve also cuts down on potential warranty issues and helps to maintain the compact packed size.
Available in a variety of sizes, the Sea to Summit UltraLight Insulated Mat includes a small repair kit that includes self-adhesive patches and a spare one-way valve flap.
- Innovative pump sack included for ease of inflation
- Exkin Platinum fabric and Thermolite insulation are combined to prevent radiant and convective heat loss
- Thickness: 2 in / 5 cm
- Multi-function valve for easy inflation, deflation and fine tuning of air pressure
- 40D rip-stop nylon face fabric offers the right balance between weight and durability
- TPU lamination process - one used in the medical and aeronautical industries but unique to the outdoor industry - is vastly superior to the roll-to-roll lamination process that is commonly used in outdoor products at present. The TPU bonds better and more consistently, virtually eliminating delamination issues.
- Extended storage instructions: mat should be laid flat, folded as few times as possible with valve open

Real Customer Reviews
Likes: The included pump sack work amazingly well.If you want to save an ounce or so, you can ditch it (and the stuff sack it's built in to). The regular size was perfect for me at 6'1", and was perfectly comfortable, even on my side. This is a great alternative to a Neoair for a couple extra ounces and a few less dollars.
Likes: So comfortable, I only wonder why I didn't buy this earlier.
- Just what I was looking for!
Likes: The Sea to Summit Ultralight Insulated pad was the perfect piece to my Ultralight backpacking kit.
So I went to REI and was testing out EVERY sleeping pad that weighs around a pound (16.6oz), has a compact packed size, 3-season capability, and available in a short size (66L x 21.5W) the extra 1.5W over the common 20W that is in most ultralight pads is nice for my shorter/broader frame. I’m 5’5” around 150lbs so the L/W combo is perfect for me! After being torn between a few contenders... the NeoAir Xlite/Big Agnes AXL/NEMO Tensor Insulated/REI Flash. I decided that the the Sea to Summit pad was the best pad for my personal needs and style of backpacking. Includes an awesome stuffsack air pump which makes inflation easy and keeps the inside of your pad cleaner. It’s should be more durable with a 40D ripstop nylon (most ultralight pads use 15D-20D material) but it’s a new purchase so time will tell. And honestly it was the most comfortable for me... I’m a believer in the Air Sprung Cells design. Instead of a few long horizontal or vertical tubes, this pad comes with 174 of these independently moving cells. Laying on my back, stomach, or sides feels super solid and stable. Highly recommend this pad because I believe that it’s the best ALL AROUND ultralight sleeping pad currently on the market.
