While backpacking boots are known for their stability, they can also be heavy and cumbersome. The Salomon Men's Quest 4D 3 GTX boot draws upon Salomon’s trail running heritage to offer waterproof protection and excellent support while not compromising on responsiveness or agility.
The boot features a nubuck leather and water-resistant textile upper that provides a comfortable fit. Strategic overlays improve durability and increase stability. A waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX Performance Comfort bootie keeps feet dry, and a gusseted tongue further ensures protection against moisture and debris. Self-locking eyelets keep laces in place, allowing you to dial in the fit. Extended padding above the protective rubber heel cup delivers extra comfort while stretch fabric at the top rear of the boot helps to keep dust and debris from sneaking inside.
Under foot, Salomon’s 4D Advanced Chassis offers the support and protection required for backpacking while remaining ultra- lightweight. Dual-density EVA foam in the midsole maximizes comfort. An EVA-shaped footbed and OrthoLite insole further enhance comfort and fit.
The non-marking High Traction Contagrip outsole utilizes aggressive lugs to deliver enhanced traction. A rubber toe cap protects your toes from rocks and roots.
Sold in pairs, the Salomon Men's Quest 4D 3 GTX backpacking boot is available in men's full and half sizes.

Real Customer Reviews
- Well built with great traction in the wet
Likes: I picked up a pair of these on the recommendation of my hiking partner, after a a my Merrel boots failed to keep traction on a steep, slippery descent in Alaska. The sole of these boots provides excellent traction on wet rocks, snow, etc.
They're well built, comfortable and provide a good amount of ankle support as well.
Dislikes: This was the most expensive pair of boots I've purchased to date. They seem worth the money, but if they were under $200 they would be a no-brainer.
