Boasting sturdy construction full adjustability for optimal fit and a wide array of high-end features the Ruff Wear Palisades Pack provides the highest performance available in dog backpacks. An innovative harness integrated hydration bladders and an internal compression system equip the pack for extended use.
The pack's zippered low profile saddlebags are designed to withstand the rigors of backcountry activity provide ample storage space and keep the load comfortably balanced. A weight-forward design makes certain that the load is properly situated to avoid hampering your dog's natural gait and a contoured athletic cut provides your dog with a close-fitting performance fit. Large pockets on each saddlebag soak up food bowls first aid supplies and other gear. Smaller zippered pockets on the top of each saddlebag are perfect for stashing treats or pick-up bags. Additional pockets on the outside of each saddlebag offer further storage space and house innovative compression straps that allow you to easily adjust and secure contents ensuring optimal weight distribution and maneuverability.
Eliminating the need for extraneous straps a patented Web Master Harness provides superior fit load-carrying stability and support. Designed to accommodate varying breeds the Web Master Harness employs a 5-point adjustment system. Easy-release buckles make the Web Master Harness convenient to take on and off and a "sheltered" design protects the buckles from wear and tear while keeping the buckles from pressing directly against your dog's body. Fleece lining and foam padding on the chest and belly straps further enhance comfort and fit. The pack’s saddlebags can actually be quickly and easily disconnected entirely from the harness making it easier to make fitting adjustments protect the contents of the saddlebags during water crossings and allow your dog to better enjoy rest stops without ever having to remove the harness. An integrated handle on the top of the pack allows you to easily carry it when your dog isn't wearing it and serves as an assistance handle when your dog needs a helping hand for on-trail obstacles. Waterproof zippers ensure that the contents of the saddlebags remain dry and secure.
Another standout feature on the pack is the inclusion of two 1.0-liter water bladders. Tucked into the saddlebags the bladders serve as an integrated hydration system and as an added bonus they help to cushion your dog from the gear contained in the saddlebags and aid your dog in maintaining a cool body temperature! The bladders can be removed from the saddlebags for ease in filling and pouring water.

- Perfect Size and Weight
Likes: Fits my German Shepherd perfectly. Plenty of room for the Ruff Wear bed and pad among her other essentials for the trail.
Dislikes: nothing at this time
- Easy to use and ample space.
Likes: This is easy to get on. It is easy to remove the pack. It have plenty of space. My dog hasn't complained.
Dislikes: There should be a little bit of overlap in fit between sizes.
- A must have for any adventure
Likes: Ruffwear speaks for itself. Worth every penny! Great quality and design, my $20 craigslist dog loves it, he’s about 70 lbs and rocks a large very comfortably. He and I both love that the saddle bags are detachable from the harness which is great for everyday use or when you want to let the little guy chill out at the campsite. Only complaint is the plastic clips which I’m worried may not hold up over time.
Dislikes: Plastic clips.
- Dogs Best Friend - The Pack
Likes: Lots of Space
Conforms to the dogs body
Water bottles are priceless!
Dislikes: Sizing can be a little tricky, measure your dog twice
- Awesome product!!!
Likes: Pretty much everything about it was awesome! The design and quality is amazing. So far it seems pretty durable and I love that it includes the hydration bladders. It also looks great and provides wonderful visibility.
Dislikes: I did have to exchange it for a larger size for my German Shepherd. Measurement size he fit firmly into the medium with a couple inches to spare but when I tried it on him, the chest straps were pretty tight with no adjustment. I sized up and now it’s perfect with plenty of adjustment room for weight/size fluctuations. It’s also pretty finicky to adjust the first time.
- Great high quality pack
Likes: High quality. Saddlebags can be removed and pack used as a harness (very nice feature to have when you have arrived at camp or need to cross a river). Doesn't chaff my dog.
Dislikes: Expensive compared to other packs but worth it in my opinion.
Likes: I am thoroughly impressed! This pack is so well made. Both my grown sons have Ruffwear packs for their dogs and highly recommended this pack. I am very impressed with how well made it is. I unfortunately had to return the pack for a smaller size since my recently rescued American Bulldog was basically in between a S and M. I chose to go with the M originally but the S should fit well. The return process was simple, I should receive her new pack in a few days.
Dislikes: The adjustments are not a one handed operation, especially on a wiggly dog but once the straps are adjusted there is no need to worry about them.
