If the weather turns cold enough, your dog may need a little help staying warm too. The lightweight Ruff Wear Quinzee insulated dog jacket provides your four-legged friend with weather-resistant warmth for extreme cold and inclement conditions.
Sam and I are taking a closer look at the Ruff Wear Quinzee Vest. This is a synthetic insulated vest that is going to provide that extra added warmth that you and your dog need when you are out in the winter in those frigid conditions and he needs just a little bit of extra insulation to keep him warm. Whether you are skiing, snow shoeing, backpacking or just when you get to camp at night and you need to put that on him, this is going to provide some extra warmth.
The synthetic insulation is a 200 gram synthetic. And the thing I love about synthetic insulation is that if it does become wet it dries out very quickly and it keeps its thermal efficiency even when it is wet. So if you get some snow on there, it is still going to keep your dog nice and warm.
The face fabric here is a durable polyester. So that polyester is going to hold up to a lot of moisture. Moisture is going to bead up and run off of it, but it isn’t waterproof, so it is nice and breathable if your dog does build up some heat there. And the features are really simple here. So here on the front you do have a small zipper right up to the dog’s neck. That is going to be adjustable. So if your dog has a skinnier or a fatter neck, you are able to move that zipper up and down. It has got adjustments here on the side so it has that vest part kind of a harness underneath. And you do have a really easy to use buckle on either side. So once you have it all buckled you have got a cinch strap right here on either side. You can cinch that down so it is nice and snug. And it has a really clean line. So if it is, you know, in the woods, brushing up against trees and stuff like that, it is not going to get caught on anything. It has got a nice collar right here up at the top. And there is even a little tab right here where you can attach a light. So that is a great feature.
Here on the back you do have reflective piping. So when the sun goes down you can definitely use a headlamp or something and it is just an added safety feature there for the dog on the back. But overall it is really nice, warm vest style jacket for your dog when you just need that extra added warmth on those cold nights or cold days in the back country.
The sizing here is pretty simple. You definitely want to measure your dog’s girth at the widest part of their chest. So the measurement right here around the chest, the measurement of the back isn’t as important as the girth measurement. So definitely measure your dog and use the size chart that Ruff Wear gives.
Sam is about 40 pound and he is actually in a size small and it fits him really well, but he is a very lean dog and his chest measurement is a little bit smaller. So overall the Quinzee vest is the perfect companion for your dog when those temperatures drop and you need that extra insulation.
