The Platypus GravityWorks 4.0L Filter System utilizes innovative Hollow Fiber technology to offer pump-free water filtration. Perfect for base camping or larger group backpacking trips, the GravityWorks 4.0L Filter System includes a 4.0L Dirty reservoir and 4.0L Clean reservoir.

The groundbreaking Hollow Fiber Technology used by the GravityWorks 4.0L Filter System enables it to efficiently and effectively filter 4 liters of water in just 2.3 minutes! Simply fill the 4.0L reservoir marked "Dirty," suspend it from a branch using the strong clip webbing, and allow gravity to filter the water into the "Clean" BPA-free 4.0L reservoir. The "Clean" reservoir disconnects for easy dispensing.

The 0.2 Micron cartridge exceeds EPA guidelines and is completely field maintainable and long lasting, effectively filtering up to 1,500 liters of water (depending on water quality) before needing replaced! The GravityWorks 4.0L Filter System can be backflushed in seconds to clear the filter of debris and the streamlined, lightweight filter housing is durable and saves on weight and space.

NOTE: The Platypus GravityWorks 4.0L Filter System meets all EPA and NSF guidelines for the removal of protozoa, bacteria and particulates. It is NOT effective against viruses.

Does your group have to drink?
Reviewed by Michael A. - October 16, 2018

Likes: Easiest and most reliable option to process lots of water in the backcountry. Don’t bother with the 2L. Just get the 4L and fill it less if you want as it’s already pretty small.

Dislikes: None

Simple, fast filtration
Reviewed by Amy A. - July 8, 2018

Likes: Filters large quantities for 2+ hikers during breaks or at base camp. I have switched to this from using the Sawyer Squeeze because this is zero effort. I drink tons of water and was tired of squeezing. Worth the weight in my opinion especially when split between multiple hikers.

Dislikes: I have a hard time zipping the "dirty" bag at the top, but I have weak hands.

Outstanding for program use
Reviewed by Krista W. - July 2, 2018

Likes: I bought this for a wilderness backpacking program and I love it! It filters quickly and adequately for a group of 10-13 people.

Dislikes: Price is a little high, but it is excellent.

Easy and Quick
Reviewed by Chris Z. - July 2, 2018

Likes: Quick to set up - just a rope tied between two trees, or another type of holding system and you are ready to go. Really fast to filter water - once you fill your dirty bag and let a little through, just raise the clean bag to both backflush and get the air bubbles out of the line and the water will flow through really quick. Great for base camp or large amount of water quickly.

Dislikes: The dirty bag top is a bit tricky to close.

Lightweight and a quality name

Set it and Forget it
Reviewed by Nayvin C. - May 31, 2018

Likes: Super Easy to use, convenient. Can filter a large amount at once

Dislikes: Wish the clean bag had an easier way to dispense water as opposed to having to unscrew the inlet.
