The lightweight, flexible Platypus Big Zip LP hydration system is totally taste-free, BPA-free and comes complete with a drinking tube and HyperFlow bite valve. Tough enough to stand up to freezing and boiling temperatures, it makes an ideal upgrade or replacement component for an existing hydration pack, and instantly converts any standard pack into a hands-free hydration system. With a low-profile design, the Big Zip LP rides flat in your pack.
The Platypus Big Zip LP reservoir features a wide opening for easy filling and cleaning. The face-mounted hose port makes it simple to get the reservoir in and out of your pack. The ergonomic 90-degree shutoff valve allows for easy drinking and the HyperFlow bite valve delivers a high flow rate, which is important when you want to stay well hydrated while on the go.
The entire system is leak-proof. The Big Zip LP has an integrated SlideLock closure that ensures a secure and easy closure. Backed by a lifetime warranty, the durable tri-layer laminate film is extremely puncture and abrasion resistant. The reservoir and the drinking tube of the Big Zip LP feature Platypus's SlimeGuard anti-microbial treatment to ensure a completely fresh and taste-free system.
A quick connect fitting is included that allows you to use a water filter (sold separately) and pump filtered water directly into the Big Zip LP reservoir through the drinking tube.

Real Customer Reviews
Likes: I specifically chose this two baffle design since it would sit "flatter" in my day pack. It works great.
Dislikes: The shut off valve is a little hard to open if you don't have pretty good fingernails since the two paddles that close it so closely fit together. Also, I got my son the 3.0 liter version of this and he tends to chew on the bite valve. There is a soft plate on the front of the valve that fell out making the bite valve useless. Basically the bite valve is a two piece system and if one of the pieces falls out you'll need a new bite valve. The price of the new bite valves is rather exorbitant considering the total cost of the system. However I was able to get 4 camelback bite valves that fit perfectly on this system for cheaper.
- Works so Far
Likes: Large mouth, which only took seconds to figure out how to open. Excellent low profile, when full fits very nicely in the hydration sleeve in my pack "Exos 58". First thing I did was remove the lanyard connecting the bag to the grip, don't like dangly things.
Dislikes: The bite valve itself seems to work fine with no accidental openings, but the strange "twist to shut off" mechanism seems a little useless, as I never actually needed to use it.
- Great product, reliable
Likes: Easy to fill and clean, water stays in the hose(my old water bladder I would always have a bit of air in the hose that I'd have to suck out first, probably just from it being old), no worries about leaking - haven't had any problems with the hose attachment at the bottom or the zip at the top. This is the first zip bag I've had, used to have the ones with the screw on lids, but I really like the zip!
Dislikes: None so far!
- Great quality hydration pouch
Likes: Clear pouch
Large opening, easy to clean
No weird smells or taste
Size is great for hiking/camping
- It stays flat and not bulk up in your backpack. The slidelock closure is easy to use and secure. It is easier to clean with the wide opening.
Likes: it's still holding up for now
Dislikes: no malfunctions up to date to dislike
- Awesome bladder for backpackers
Likes: I love the huge opening in the top. It really makes cleaning and filling this bladder very easy. It's basically like an extremely strong zip lock baggy with a clip on top to ensure it doesn't open unexpectedly (and as a handle). The bite valve and quick disconnect is excellent.
- Nice hydration bladder. Can't exactly fit your hand in there but still easier to clean than others. Quick disconnect/connect is cool and makes things a lot easier and adaptable. Having a slender wide profile it sits against your back really flat and isn't
Likes: Pretty much everything
Dislikes: Bite valve, which flows just fine, is the only improvement I can think of and maybe reversible so it's even easier to clean. Those aren't really dislikes as much as just suggestions for improvement on an already good product.
- Great hiking hydration
Likes: Hiking up a mountain and quenching your thirst at the same time is fantastic with this system. Great job in delivering water while keeping momentum on the trail.
Dislikes: The bottom of the bag got flattened out in a fully packed backpack and slowed water delivery, but a few shakes to loosen the packed items helped fix this.

Likes: Easy to fill and nice size to carry
Likes: The Platypus is well-constructed. My medium-sized hand fits inside it for easy cleaning. The quick disconnect is helpful feature and works effortlessly.
