Lightweight, quick-drying, and delivering UPF 50+ sun protection, Outdoor Research Men’s Equinox Convert Pants are perfect for hiking, backpacking, or traveling in hot and humid climates.
I am wearing the Outdoor Research men’s Equinox convertible pants. These are a lightweight, quick drying option with a UPF 50 plus sun protecting fabric. They are a great option for anyone hiking, backpacking or traveling in hot and humid conditions. Let’s take a closer look at the features.
So starting at the top these pants have two front mesh pockets. On the back there are also two pockets with a tack down flap. And these pockets are a little stretchy, so they can accommodate some different sized items.
Going down we have got a side thigh pocket with a zipper closure so you can throw some items in there as well. It has got plenty of storage options as far as pockets go with these pants. A little bit farther down we have got two zippered sections. So, as the name suggests, these are convertible pants. And you can actually zip off the bottom portion if the weather gets too unbearably hot and wear these as shorts. So increases the breathability and the comfort of the pant.
Now on that bottom section, to make it a little bit easier to get off if you are wearing boots or heavier shoes, there is a 10 inch zippered section that you can zipper open, you know, you can do that either to increase your breathability and ventilation or to make it easier to take that bottom section off. So some pretty nice features there.
They also offer movement mirroring stretch. So as you move the pants are going to move with you. They won’t restrict or retrain your movement. And it has also got a gusseted crotch, so it is not going to impede your leg movement. So overall, really comfortable, breathable, stretchy pants with ample pockets, some really nice features there.
At the very top around the waist you have got belt loops and tunnels that allow any type of belt to be worn with this pant. It does come with a belt. You can remove that, if you choose to. And as far as the closure goes, it is a simple snap closure with a zippered fly. So pretty traditional design there.
The fit on these pants is pretty loose. It is pretty regular fit. They are not really athletic cut or anything like that. Nice breathable materials. I really like the way they fit. They offer a lot of freedom of movement and stretch. So even if they were a little tight on the wearer, they would stretch to work with and not against that person. So really like the fit. They are very comfortable pant.
The impressions I get are that they would be really good for hiking, backpacking, you know, travel. They are wrinkle resistant. They are water resistant. They are lightweight. They are sun protected. Just all around good pants. I could even see them as being a climbing pant due to the good abrasion resistance and stretch, freedom of movement that climbers require. They have also got a DWR finish. So they are going to shed some light rain as well as being super quick drying.
So there you have it. They are the Outdoor Research men’s Equinox convertible pants, a lightweight, breathable option for all kinds of different activities.
