Equipped with its own 2.5 liter hydration system and incorporating user-friendly features, the Osprey Skarab 32 day pack carries far more comfortably than traditional hydration packs and offers 1800+ cubic inches of storage capacity.
Unlike traditional hydration bladders, the Osprey reservoir has welded baffles that minimize "barreling" by maintaining a more anatomical shape. Nestled within its own dedicated, externally-accessed compartment, the reservoir is locked securely in place, reducing the sloshing effect that many hydration pack users have come to accept as a necessary evil. The reservoir’s wide mouth is easily accessed through a patented, leakproof sliding closure that further adds speed and efficiency to refills that kids can even do themselves. An integrated PourShield makes the reservoir easy to fill and empty. An anti-microbial treatment prevents mold and bacteria from building up inside the reservoir.
The pack utilizes a foam framesheet with a center stiffener to offer lightweight, movement-mirroring support and stability. The padded BioStretch harness and hipbelt enhance fit and load balance during aerobic activities. An adjustable and elastic sternum strap further ensures a stable fit and a magnetic hose attachment strategically secures the hydration system's bite valve. The Small/Medium Skarab 32 fits torso lengths ranging from 16"-19" and the Medium/Large size fits torsos ranging from 18"-21" in length. Side compression straps allow you to cinch down the packbag to keep contents safely in place and aid in load stabilization.
In addition to the large main compartment, a large front panel stretch pocket and a smaller zippered pocket offer organizational options. Zippered pockets on the hipbelt offer quick-and-easy access to energy gels, valuables, and other small items.
Other features include ice axe loops, trekking pole attachments, and side stretch mesh pockets.

Real Customer Reviews
- Neutral (Didn't experience it to its full potential)
Likes: Cannot really fully assess since returning it without using the pack for a hike.
Dislikes: I hike shirtless because I sweat a ridiculous amount. I felt it was important to at least get the following information out there because there may be others who either wear tanks or end up taking their shirt off during a hike as this type of information was difficult to find when I was researching packs. I tried the pack and was immediately met with an abrasive feeling that indicated chafing would become an issue with the way I intended on using it, as the mesh on the shoulder straps in combination with running will certainly wear the skin away after 10 minutes of running. I found the plastic adjustment by the elbow on the shoulder strap to also be an issue with trying to run with it on as it would rub against my elbow. Overall, not the pack for me due to my needs, but if you are a normal person who intends on wearing a shirt or coat with it, you should definitely have a much better experience.
- Light, well built frameless pack for hiking and travel
Likes: The pack has a nice combination of pockets and straps to make it versatile to load up both for travel and hiking.
The included hydration pack with dedicated spot is a plus.
Pack collapses down to a nice compact (albeit long) size when empty, and the waist belt is rather close to the proper position on my 6'5" frame.
Dislikes: Could be a bit more rigid and easy to slide the hydration pack in a loaded pack.
Some adjustment in waist belt would be nice.
