Ideal for long backcountry day hikes or even overnighters, the Osprey Manta AG 36 hydration pack provides ample storage (2000+ cubic inches), houses an integrated 2.5L hydration system, and boasts an innovative, movement-mirroring suspension system. No longer do you need to settle for an ill-fitting pack in order to stay hydrated.
Osprey's Anti-Gravity Suspension system equips the pack with weight-carrying efficiency, breathability, and a contoured fit that’ll nearly make you forget you have it on your back. A broad-mesh, tensioned backpanel stretches seamlessly from the shoulder straps all the way out across the hipbelt. Though the pack maintains constant, responsive contact with the wearer, warm air can escape freely because of the separation caused between the mesh and the pack itself. Beneath the mesh, a lightweight aluminum frame provides support and distributes weight. Load lifter straps and an adjustable sternum strap further allow you to dial in fit. The Small/Medium Manta AG 36 is designed to best fit torso lengths ranging from 16”-19" and the Medium/Large size fits 18”-21” torsos.
Unlike traditional hydration bladders, the Osprey reservoir has welded baffles that minimize "barreling" by maintaining a more anatomical shape. Nestled within its own dedicated, externally-accessed compartment, the reservoir is locked securely in place, reducing the sloshing effect that many hydration pack users have come to accept as a necessary evil. The reservoir’s wide mouth is easily accessed through a patented, leakproof sliding closure that further adds speed and efficiency to refills that kids can even do themselves. An integrated PourShield makes the reservoir easy to fill and empty. An anti-microbial treatment prevents mold and bacteria from building up inside the reservoir.
In addition to a large main compartment, a sizable, zippered front pocket allows you to organize gear and a stretch woven front "shove-it" pocket allows you to keep extra layers close at hand. Zippered pockets on the hipbelt offer quick-and-easy access to energy gels, valuables and other small items. Other features include a helmet attachment loop, a safety light attachment point, and an integrated rain cover to protect the pack in inclement weather.

Real Customer Reviews
- Perfect day pack
Likes: Perfect day pack and even better with the AG system.
- Fantastic bag
Likes: I bought this to carry groceries 2 miles home from the store. This bag works very well for that. It's extremely comfortable on me (5'8"/150, S/M) with great features/organization. It's durable and carries a lot.
Dislikes: The zippers on the hip belt could be easier to close. I can do it with one hand but it's tricky. I also wish there were pockets on the shoulder straps. Overall I think this is a fantastic bag so I wouldn't say there's anything I actually dislike.
- Great pack
Likes: Compression pockets with easy access to water
Included hydration bladder
Dislikes: Hip pockets are too far back and difficult to open
Main compartment doesn't open wide
- Nice Daypack
Likes: The Fossil Grey Color, The Size, Comes with Rain Cover and Hydration.
The Osprey AG System is really comfortable, by far the best fitting pack. Sizing was just Right for a taller person like myself. External Hydration pocket.
Dislikes: Only problem I've had with the pack on and your concealing your edc, harder to draw with the AG system.
- Great pack
Likes: - Comfortable, rigid frame.
- Ample space/compartments for day trips and weekend travel.
- Includes hydration pack.
- Diagonal water bottle holder so I don't have to take the bag off.
Dislikes: - No full length sleeves/pocket organizers for holding flat documents. Would make it nicer for travel use.
- Hip pocket barely fits a 5.5" phone and is just a bit too far off to the side to easily unzip one-handed (from a fully zipped position).
- I have received this pack a few weeks ago. Took it out 4 times for 15-18 miles days trips with a great anticipation. This pack performed better than I my expectations.
Likes: I like the fit (bought S/M size) and the AG suspension. The integrated hydration system is great and eliminated a need to take it down to search for a water bottles etc. The side packets are great for a snacks. In my estimation, the overall storage space should be more than enough for an overnight trips.
I am very satisfied with the quality of the materials used and overall visual appearance.
Dislikes: Not so far; I am taking it for a week long camping/hiking trip. Should I have any critical remarks, I will update my review.
- Great multi use pack
Likes: Great organization, comfortable fit, plenty of space and love the dedicated pocket for the hydration bladder. I like the AG suspension on this pack; it really hugs the body and sits well on the hips and allows me to carry quite a lot of gear. Love the stow on the go system on Osprey packs too. If you use hiking poles like I do, this is a GREAT feature. Definitely not a gimmick.
Dislikes: Ventilation is good but with the new AG suspension it's not quite as good as the last generation of Mira/Manta packs (and certainly not as good as my Stratos). That said, it's still fairly well ventilated and I'll take the slight ventilation tradeoff for the carry on this pack vs. the last model.
Wish it came with the other water bladder though (the blue one). I really like the formed back and the full 3 liters.
- After considerable research i chose the Manta AG 36 for my multi-purpose daypack. When it arrived i knew I had chosen wisely .The next weekend i loaded it up (22 lb ) for an overnight trip (10mi ) . This pack is perfect. It is well made and comfy on my b
Likes: Everything . Lots of storage and nice suspension system ..I love the fossil grey color. Perfect all around daypack.
