Ideal for long backcountry day hikes or even overnighters, the Osprey Manta AG 36 hydration pack provides ample storage (2000+ cubic inches), houses an integrated 2.5L hydration system, and boasts an innovative, movement-mirroring suspension system. No longer do you need to settle for an ill-fitting pack in order to stay hydrated.
Osprey's Anti-Gravity Suspension system equips the pack with weight-carrying efficiency, breathability, and a contoured fit that’ll nearly make you forget you have it on your back. A broad-mesh, tensioned backpanel stretches seamlessly from the shoulder straps all the way out across the hipbelt. Though the pack maintains constant, responsive contact with the wearer, warm air can escape freely because of the separation caused between the mesh and the pack itself. Beneath the mesh, a lightweight aluminum frame provides support and distributes weight. Load lifter straps and an adjustable sternum strap further allow you to dial in fit. The Small/Medium Manta AG 36 is designed to best fit torso lengths ranging from 16”-19" and the Medium/Large size fits 18”-21” torsos.
Unlike traditional hydration bladders, the Osprey reservoir has welded baffles that minimize "barreling" by maintaining a more anatomical shape. Nestled within its own dedicated, externally-accessed compartment, the reservoir is locked securely in place, reducing the sloshing effect that many hydration pack users have come to accept as a necessary evil. The reservoir’s wide mouth is easily accessed through a patented, leakproof sliding closure that further adds speed and efficiency to refills that kids can even do themselves. An integrated PourShield makes the reservoir easy to fill and empty. An anti-microbial treatment prevents mold and bacteria from building up inside the reservoir.
In addition to a large main compartment, a sizable, zippered front pocket allows you to organize gear and a stretch woven front "shove-it" pocket allows you to keep extra layers close at hand. Zippered pockets on the hipbelt offer quick-and-easy access to energy gels, valuables and other small items. Other features include a helmet attachment loop, a safety light attachment point, and an integrated rain cover to protect the pack in inclement weather.

Real Customer Reviews
- I really love this pack.
Likes: The pack is large enough I will be able to use it for a trip of several days. Having the water bladder in a separate pocket is really great too, as I don't need to worry about it leaking on my other stuff and also it is much more convenient and accessible to fill. The pack fits well, is comfortable even when very full, and has many pockets to stow my gear, including two stash pockets.
Dislikes: Other people discussed the noise the pack makes when you are walking. I have noticed this a couple of times, and it seems like it is when I have the straps cinched really tight. Otherwise I don't notice any noise.
- Great versatile bag
Likes: Lots of pockets. Separate hydration zippered pouch so you don't have to rearrange your entire bag. Strong open pouch for snowshoes in winter. Strap on middle outside can be used for black diamond raven ice ax in place of ice ax loops. Meets standard airline carry on dimension. Top and side entry water bottle holders. Comfortable support for heavy weight. Looks small when compressed but can carry a lot of gear. Great if you're looking for one bag that you can take away for a weekend/Euro backpacking trip, winter/summer day hiking, or comfortably around town.
Dislikes: When full the bag expands outward behind you, versus up on top, since it's a relatively shorter framed bag. However that needs to be the case if you want it to hold 36L and meet carry on dimensions. The Osprey hydration hose is harder to dry I find-make sure you pinch the nipple mouth spout and drain all the water before disconnecting the hose from the bladder. This will get out most of the water.
- Great for those overnighters and 2 day trips!
Likes: Great fit, love the mesh back, large volume, plenty of pockets.
Love the way this fits, the hip belt is extremely comfortable and very convenient!! Pack it large enough for a weekend trip and possibly longer depending how minimalist you want to go. Gotta love the hydration aspect too!!
The AG system helps keep your back cool when trekking in hotter weather. Also makes it incredibly comfortable.
Dislikes: The zippers on the hip belt can be a bit tricky at times but you can get used to them.
- one small issue with pack, real fast replacement
Likes: fit, size. great customer service.
Dislikes: prefer orange or red colored pack other than that no dislikes
- Great day pack
Likes: Light, feels great on my back, and makes carrying water easy on the go.
- Awesome pack!
Likes: Color. Features. Pack is bullet proof.
- Perfect day pack
Likes: Perfect day pack and even better with the AG system.
- Fantastic bag
Likes: I bought this to carry groceries 2 miles home from the store. This bag works very well for that. It's extremely comfortable on me (5'8"/150, S/M) with great features/organization. It's durable and carries a lot.
Dislikes: The zippers on the hip belt could be easier to close. I can do it with one hand but it's tricky. I also wish there were pockets on the shoulder straps. Overall I think this is a fantastic bag so I wouldn't say there's anything I actually dislike.
- Great pack
Likes: Compression pockets with easy access to water
Included hydration bladder
Dislikes: Hip pockets are too far back and difficult to open
Main compartment doesn't open wide
- Nice Daypack
Likes: The Fossil Grey Color, The Size, Comes with Rain Cover and Hydration.
The Osprey AG System is really comfortable, by far the best fitting pack. Sizing was just Right for a taller person like myself. External Hydration pocket.
Dislikes: Only problem I've had with the pack on and your concealing your edc, harder to draw with the AG system.
