Ideal for long day hikes or lightweight overnighters, the Osprey Kyte 46 Women’s backpack balances weight, storage capacity (2600+ cubic inches), features, price and performance. A lightweight, supportive suspension enables the pack to comfortably carry loads of up to 40 pounds!

Committed to providing all outdoor enthusiasts with optimal performance, Osprey equips its women's packs with gender-specific design features. Harnesses are cut wider through the collar bone area and have an ergonomic taper in the chest area. Offering a women's specific cant and a narrower cut, the hipbelts found on Osprey's women's packs also cater to female users.

Employing ridge molded foam and built-in air channels, the pack’s AirScape backpanel provides flexible support and breathability to combat heat build-up between your back and the pack body. A lightweight aluminum peripheral frame and a foam framesheet effectively distribute weight and deliver supportive stability. The Xsmall/Small Kyte 46 Women’s pack is designed to fit torso lengths ranging from 13"-17" and the Small/Medium size fits 16”-20” torsos. The padded, contoured hipbelt, and padded shoulder straps aid in stability and load transfer. An adjustable sternum strap and load-lifter straps further enhance fit. Side compression straps cinch down to keep the contents of the pack safely in.

The top-loading 2600+ cubic-inch capacity packbag is accessed beneath a fixed top lid that incorporates zippered compartments for gear storage. A vertical zipper on the face of the pack also grants access to the interior of the packbag without having to remove the lid. A zippered lower compartment is ideal for a sleeping bag or other gear. A divider between the main packbag and the sleeping bag compartment can be pulled aside to convert the Kyte 46 Women’s pack to a single large compartment. A large zippered side pocket and a large stretch woven pocket on the front of the pack offer additional organizational options and help to keep layers close at hand.

Other features include Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachments, tuck-away ice axe loops, daisy chain attachment points, an included raincover, a safety whistle built into the sternum strap, zippered hibpelt pockets, and stretch side water bottle pockets. An external sleeve is ideal for a hydration system (not included).

Great bag!
Reviewed by Brittney H. - February 6, 2019

Likes: I originally purchased the Osprey Aura (another great bag) but the fit was very uncomfortable for me around my waist. The Kyte fits my waist much more comfortably. The bag is lightweight, durable, and offers plenty of storage. I really like that there are multiple points of entry on this bag as well. It makes it much easier to access items from the side or bottom when the bag is fully packed. I was worried that this bag would not be large enough for me after using the Osprey Aura, but all of my gear fits perfectly. I'm glad I went with this bag!

Dislikes: The only dislike I have is that the top is not removable - but that isn't a deal breaker.

Handy overnight backpack
Reviewed by Francois D. - August 20, 2018

Likes: Great for overnight backpacking (wouldn't recommend for more days)
Comfy hardness, fits well and stays steady in the back
Lots of pockets
Select XS/S for small torso like mine! (5'4)

Dislikes: Sleeping bag pocket could be larger (hard to fit in)
When backpack is loaded, inserting 3L water bladder can be a challenge

Good pack
Reviewed by Kurt D. - July 23, 2018

Likes: Simple and spacious

Dislikes: The cinch on drawstring for main compartment is a pain. Added a piece of Paracord to it to have something to hang on to

Great quality for price
Reviewed by Bob T. - June 23, 2018

Likes: This bag has all the features as advertised - and is quality material.

Dislikes: May be too a little too heavy for a daypack multipitch

Great pack for overnights or shorter section hikes
Reviewed by Christopher S. - June 13, 2018

Likes: Purchased this pack for my daughters first larger pack. great adjustability for a proper fit and plenty of pockets for organizing gear. She comfortably carried 28 lbs for 2 days with no discomfort. External hydration sleeve doesn't cost any interior space.

Dislikes: hip belt pockets a little tight for smart phone.

My wife likes this pack
Reviewed by Josh C. - June 11, 2018

Likes: My wife likes this bag a lot.

Dislikes: She complained about the waist harness hitting her arms as she walked

Great for teenaged daughter
Reviewed by Ralph H. - May 21, 2018

Likes: Adjustment has great range, easy to tweak to fit. My daughter used this for our backpacking trip that got sidetracked. We expected to do a 4.5 mile day, but due to storms, it turned into a 8 mile day hike out. She said the pack was comfortable and did not chafe even when soaking wet. We plan on using it again this summer for our reattempt at the same trail.

Dislikes: none.

Trusty Multitasker
Reviewed by Kiley O. - April 19, 2018

Likes: Super comfortable wear and easy to adjust to your body. I can fit my sleeping bag, tent, some clothes, and enough provisions for a night or two in the backcountry. I also tried it out, and it doubles as the perfect carry-on for plane travel. I was able to fit it snugly in the overhead - even on a small jet (though admittedly this one took a little more coaxing). I LOVE the color. Neutral without being black - sort of a dark slate? I like the pops of turquoise, too. The pockets are minimal but honestly just right for what I need - quick access to snacks, headlamp, phone, multitool, etc. the external sleeve for a hydration pack makes loading and re-loading really convenient. Also comes with a rain cover which I haven't had the opportunity to test out yet, but I love that I don't have to purchase it separately. The standard apple green color is fine - nothing obnoxious, and easy enough to see. The fabric is durable. I love Osprey and expect to have this a long while.

Dislikes: The deep mesh pockets for water bottles are wonderful, but could be improved by angling them forward a little so you can access your water more easily (without taking your pack off or relying on the buddy system). I have a marmot women's sawtooth (I think?) - it's around 7-8 liters, in any case. So far, I haven't had the best luck fitting it into the designated sleeping bag compartment - I have given up when trying, but it could probably work with a little more committed effort.

Cute, Comfortable, and Surprisingly Roomy
Reviewed by Lynn H. - December 8, 2017

Likes: PROS: Carries like a dream, Raincover included, Featuring lots of features
I was happily surprised to buy this as my first backpacking pack. I originally considered the Aura 50, but its brain (detachable for daybag use) was too unwieldy and its hipbelt too stiff. The Exos 58 was too pared down (no sleeping bag compartment) and didn't feel as comfortable with its one-size-fits-all unisex system. The Kyte (which came in XS/S as I needed) is perfect!
TESTING CONDITIONS: Took this overnight in the Great Smokies. After a 17 mile day hike, I traded my daypack for this pack. I hiked another 3 miles into camp, then another 8 miles the next day with a fully loaded backpack. My total weight was 23lbs, ending at 20lbs. It felt like nothing!
I also had plenty of extra space and it could've held another 10 lbs comfortably (I tested it with 30lbs at REI), so I could use the Kyte for longer trips. Please note I don't have to worry about bear canisters (which might make this pack too small)
Integrated raincover in its own stash pocket at the bottom of the pack ($30 added value!). It expands to cover anything you strap to the bottom too
Stretchy mesh front expands quite a bit
Daisy chain loops for lots of attachments (like shoes when crossing a creek, a pack towel, a bandana)
Many compression straps to hold it close in dense bush
Stow-on-the-go for trekking poles
Also, I am a sucker for the purple/pink/orange coloring
WEIGHT: 50.21oz + 4.72oz raincover. Basically, 1 lb more than Exos 58, 1 lb less than Aura 50

Dislikes: Hip belt pockets are stiff and hard to use. I keep most of my immediately needed stuff in my pants pockets though, so this is not a big deal.
