Ideal for day hikes or ultra-lightweight overnight trips, the Osprey Kestrel 32 balances weight, features, price and performance. A lightweight, supportive suspension enables the pack to comfortably carry loads of up to 30 pounds.

Employing ridge molded foam and built-in air channels, the Kestrel 32's AirScape backpanel provides flexible support and breathability to combat heat build-up between your back and the pack body. A lightweight aluminum frame and a foam framesheet effectively distribute weight and deliver supportive stability. The Small/Medium Kestrel 32 is designed to fit torso lengths ranging from 16"-20" and the Medium/Large size fits 19”-23” torsos. The hipbelt and harness straps are padded, covered in mesh and perforated to keep weight to a minimum. An adjustable sternum strap further aids in stability and enhances fit. Side compression straps allow you to cinch down the pack to keep contents safely in place and aid in load control.

The panel-loading packbag is accessed via a wide-opening front zipper. Stretch woven pockets on the front and sides of the Kestrel 32 offer additional organizational options and keep gear and extra layers close at hand. A zippered top pocket and large zippered hipbelt pockets offer quick-and-easy access to other gear and essentials.

Other features include Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachments, tuck-away ice axe loops, daisy chain attachment points, an included raincover, and a safety whistle built into the sternum strap. An external sleeve is ideal for a hydration system (not included).

Great pack
Reviewed by Jeff - June 23, 2017

Likes: This is the perfect size for my search and rescue pack. There is enough room to accommodate winter gear yet small enough for use in the summer.

Dislikes: None so far

Comfort and Function
Reviewed by Alan R. - July 6, 2016

Likes: The bag is comfortable to wear, narrow with padded straps. Using the waist straps you can reposition the weight of the bag onto your hips, but you'll need to be sure to get the right size bag for your waist. I'm a 33 mens waist and I tighten up most of the slack - I had to sew the excess to keep it from catching on branches.

Space, lots of it. Smart hook placement and reversible locking straps allow for carrying a yoga mat, sleeping bag, even some light camping gear. Great bag for the price. The rain guard has its own pocket - it can be wrapped tightly and you can pack more in that pocket for more space.

Dislikes: The main compartment is one giant opening with no loops or separator pockets -BYO.
When your frozen water reservoir begins the thaw the main compartment gets soaked. My sweater was wet and my notebook was ruined. It's not advertised as waterproof but you kind of expect something between the water pocket and your main compartment.
