Combining its hard-earned reputation as a rugged load-hauling option for extended backpacking trips with the revolutionary Anti-Gravity suspension the Osprey Aether AG 70 offers a dynamic responsive fit 4000+ cubic inches of storage capacity and a weight-carrying capacity of up to 60 pounds!
Osprey's innovative Anti-Gravity suspension system equips the pack with weight-carrying efficiency breathability and a contoured fit. A broad-mesh tensioned backpanel stretches all the way out across the lumbar portion of the pack. Though the pack maintains constant responsive contact with the wearer warm air can escape freely because of the separation caused between the mesh and the pack itself. Beneath the mesh a peripheral LightWire aluminum frame. A sliding sternum strap and adjustable load-lifter straps further enhance fit.
Accommodating backpackers of different heights the pack is available in your choice of sizes. The Small size fits torsos ranging from 16”-19” the Medium fits from 18”-21” the Large fits from 20”-23” and the Xlarge accommodates torso lengths ranging from 22”-25”. An Anti-Gravity IsoForm harness and a fully-padded moldable IsoForm hipbelt maximize performance fit and comfort.
The pack’s large main compartment is reached through a traditional top-loading access point but a large J-shaped zipper on the front of the pack also allows quick access to the interior. Additionally a lower compartment serves as a dedicated spot for stowing your sleeping bag or other clothes and gear. A removable divider enables you to open up the interior to create a single spacious compartment. A large front pocket utilizes welded stretch woven fabric to serve as a convenient storage spot for discarded layers or other gear. Elastic side pockets are ideal for stashing water bottles or other smaller items. Integrated hipbelt pockets provide a spot to keep essentials close at hand. Side compression straps enable you to cinch down your pack to keep contents safely and securely in place and also double as lash points for additional gear. Buckled straps that pass over the front of the packbag are designed to further enhance the compressibility of the pack and provide yet another place to lash gear. A removable top lid protects the contents of the pack and can be removed entirely to save weight . Adding increased versatility the lid also serves as a streamlined stand-alone daypack with its own minimalist shoulder straps an adjustable sternum strap and an internal hydration sleeve.
Other features include integrated Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole loops ice axe loops with bungee tie-offs removable sleeping pad straps and an internal sleeve that makes the pack hydration compatible (hydration system sold separately).

Real Customer Reviews
- Fantastic backpack with many storage options
Likes: The day pack is a huge winner on this bag, it allows for you to reduce weight when not needed, or open up possibilities when packing in to set up a base camp then explore the area. The belt system is great like everyone says, very comfortable and adjustable, with great circulation behind your back.
Dislikes: A bit on the heavy side, but not bad considering this is not an ultralight bag.
- Very good pack
Likes: suspension system is great
Adjustability is very good
waterbottle side pockets are good
Dislikes: form fitting the hip belt must be done in an approved heating unit or the warranty is void
It needs a couple of outside side pockets with closure
- Osprey is the best
Likes: I love everything about this pack. I can’t wait to use it more this summer.
- Love this pack
Likes: Got this one to replace another brand’s 60L pack that was chafing my husband’s lower back like crazy and which broke after a couple uses on short trips. This one has been excellent so far, looks and feels good, great capacity and tons of storage in conveniently placed pockets, the AG suspension is just amazing... can’t say enough about it. Highly recommend this pack.
Dislikes: Wish it came in more colors!
- AG is real
Likes: AG or anti gravity is not just a gimmick. The weight does seem to disappear. It's quite magical actually. The detachable daypack is a great feature.
Dislikes: There could've been more pockets to put smaller items
- Great backpack!
Likes: I like how the hip belt takes the load off lower back. Nice option to remove top cover off and use as day pack. Recently use in Sequoia, very comfortable when loaded with gear! Very smart design and functional backpack. Highly recommend.
- Great pack for carrying heavy weight
Likes: I used Aether 60 for a 5 day trip and a 3 day trip, it carried weights very well. Also the day pack was very functional, comfortable and big enough for essentials for a short day hike. I switched to Aether 70 for its extra 10L and the better compression system and J-opening with only a very slight weight increase.
Dislikes: As everybody else says, it is a bit on heavy side which will be insignificant when carrying over 40lb. The stiff hip belt tends to get in the way when putting on the pack since its tension wants to stay closed. Just open the belt and put your hip in first before lifting the pack.
- Took it to PNW
Likes: This is a good bag. took it on a week long trip to the PNW and it did its job nicely.
Dislikes: Slightly heavy
- Great pack
Likes: Osprey is an awesome company and this pack is proof in the pudding. Not sure how they will improve this model but I'm sure they will find a way.
Dislikes: Would like to see the rain cover included.
- GREAT BACKPACK!
Likes: Comfortable, light, durable, detachable bag, adjustments
Dislikes: no instructions on adjustments
