Combining its hard-earned reputation as a rugged, load-hauling option for extended backpacking trips with the revolutionary Anti-Gravity suspension, the Osprey Aether AG 70 offers a dynamic, responsive fit, 4000+ cubic inches of storage capacity, and a weight-carrying capacity of up to 60 pounds!
Osprey's innovative Anti-Gravity suspension system equips the pack with weight-carrying efficiency, breathability, and a contoured fit. A broad-mesh, tensioned backpanel stretches all the way out across the lumbar portion of the pack. Though the pack maintains constant, responsive contact with the wearer, warm air can escape freely because of the separation caused between the mesh and the pack itself. Beneath the mesh, a peripheral LightWire aluminum frame. A sliding sternum strap and adjustable load-lifter straps further enhance fit.
Accommodating backpackers of different heights, the pack is available in your choice of sizes. The Small size fits torsos ranging from 16”-19”, the Medium fits from 18”-21”, the Large fits from 20”-23”, and the Xlarge accommodates torso lengths ranging from 22”-25”. An Anti-Gravity IsoForm harness and a fully-padded, moldable IsoForm hipbelt maximize performance, fit, and comfort. These components are interchangeable. NOTE: The Aether AG 70 ships standard with component sizes that match the torso size or “style” of the pack with the exception of the Xlarge which comes standard with Large components. If you require customization of components, please leave detailed instructions about what size hipbelt and/or harness you need in the “Order Comment” field on the “Order Review” screen at checkout or call us at 1.800.617.0643 to place your customized order directly with one of our Gear Specialists.
The pack’s large main compartment is reached through a traditional top-loading access point but a large J-shaped zipper on the front of the pack also allows quick access to the interior. Additionally, a lower compartment serves as a dedicated spot for stowing your sleeping bag or other clothes and gear. A removable divider enables you to open up the interior to create a single spacious compartment. A large front pocket utilizes welded stretch woven fabric to serve as a convenient storage spot for discarded layers or other gear. Elastic side pockets are ideal for stashing water bottles or other smaller items. Integrated hipbelt pockets provide a spot to keep essentials close at hand. Side compression straps enable you to cinch down your pack to keep contents safely and securely in place and also double as lash points for additional gear. Buckled straps that pass over the front of the packbag are designed to further enhance the compressibility of the pack and provide yet another place to lash gear. A removable top lid protects the contents of the pack and can be removed entirely to save weight . Adding increased versatility, the lid also serves as a streamlined, stand-alone daypack with its own minimalist shoulder straps, an adjustable sternum strap, and an internal hydration sleeve.
Other features include integrated Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole loops, ice axe loops with bungee tie-offs, removable sleeping pad straps, and an internal sleeve that makes the pack hydration compatible (hydration system sold separately).

Real Customer Reviews
- Excellent large volume pack. I don't come close to the advertized capacity (60 lbs), but have hit 30 lbs. Pack adjustments allow you to conform the fit. Quite satisfied with this product and would recommend to all. Have not used for an extended trek yet.
Likes: - Capacity
- Design - form, fit, and function - harness adjustments customize fit, pack straps assist in tightening load, waist belt provides solid support
- Backcountry Edge's exceptional service
- Great multi day pack.
Likes: I haven't had the chance to carry on an extended trip but this this is COMFORTABLE! It carries the weight exactly where you want it and creates a stable core. Love the layout and the daypack top is a awesome touch. I loved the pack so much I ordered a second to use as a bug out bag.
Dislikes: Nothing I am aware of so far. There are complaints on the buckles breaking but they seem sturdy enough and I haven't had any issues. If one were to have one the all mighty warrantee with osprey leaves my mind at ease.
- Light and Efficient. My review below is based on a backpacking experience through Europe for 15 days. No real hiking yet.
Likes: Light Weight
Material and built quality
Bottle Pockets are very accommodating and snug bottles (all sizes) tightly
Dislikes: Wish the front zipper would fully open (as designed it just opens in an "L" pattern)
The "Day Pack" material is not breathable at all. This was a true surprise considering how much effort was spent on the main backpack. I believe it could have more pockets and more structure to it without jeopardizing its "top cover" function.
Computer sleeve doesn't fit much due to the shape of the frame (I travel with my laptop).
- Great pack. Wanted an upgrade from my old North Face pack. Worth every penny for comfort and adjustability
Likes: The easy adjustments with the new AG system made it simple to adjust to my body shape and height. The breathable mesh backing allowed great airflow. Easy to pack and access gear.
Dislikes: Wish the rain cover came with it.
- Very Nice Pack
Likes: Removable top lid daypack, extreme comfort, good carrying capacity. The J zipper on the main compartment makes it easier to find things in the bottom. Nice to have a dedicated sleeping bag compartment. Overall this is a true top of the line pack that is probably as comfortable as they get.
Dislikes: Some literature says the hydration sleeve is between the shoulder strap harness and the pack (outside). There appears to be a sleeve to put the bladder in, but no strap to hold it in place and keep it from slumping. That is on the inside, where there is definitely a sleeve for the bladder. Inside location makes it almost impossible to put the bladder in if the pack is loaded, so they need to finish off putting it outside.
- Perfect backpack
Likes: It's size is more than adequate for multi-month hikes in comfortable temperatures. I think if you had to bring a lot of cold weather gear might be too small.
Dislikes: The adjustment in the back should come with written measurements so you can judge your torso length setting.
- its a great pack and has a lot of great features.
Likes: fits great and built nicely.
