Spacious, lightweight, and well-ventilated, The North Face Talus 2 tent is ready made for 3-season campers or first-time backpackers. An included footprint and gear loft make this tent an exceptional value.
Offering 32 square feet of interior space, the tent provides ample room for up to 2. Its two large doors make it easy to get in and out of the tent and dual vestibules provide 15 square feet (7.5 square feet per vestibule) of additional weather-protected external storage space. Maximizing floor space, interior mesh pockets and an included gear loft provide places other than the floor to stash gear and clothes.
Lightweight aluminum poles provide the tent with structure, but you’ll need to use the included stakes for a taut, secure pitch. An overhead brow pole helps to increase the verticality of the sidewalls which enhances all-around internal livability.
The body of the tent is constructed of breathable 40D polyester mesh and a roll-up feature on the 68D polyester rainfly lets you take advantage of this ventilation in balmy weather. The floor is a burly 70D nylon taffeta and both the floor and fly have PU-coatings to ensure weather protection and all of tent’s seams are tape-sealed. The included custom-fit footprint adds durability by protecting the floor of the tent from mud, ground water, and sharp objects like rocks, exposed roots and pine needles. It also enables you to leave the tent body behind (when conditions allow) and use just the poles, footprint, and fly to pitch the tent as a more minimalist shelter.

Real Customer Reviews
- Frustrating product
Likes: Nice looking tent, good quality materials, stylish color.
Dislikes: I wound up returning this tent primarily due to the pole/hub system. Breaking down the the poles to fit in the bag was like figuring out a Rubik's Cube - way too complicated and cumbersome. Also the set-up instructions were beyond minimal, worse than any IKEA instructions.
- Solid comfy tent
Likes: We've taken it backpacking and it is easy to set up and break-down. It really needs the stakes to hold it wide, so I'm not sure how it would do on rocks. We've had it through one cold night and it holds heat pretty well - I was surprised by the temperature drop when I got out of the tent. We also just got back from a camping trip in which we weathered a pretty severe 3 am storm - hard rainfall for an hour or so and strong winds. We could hear other tents flexing in the wind but ours hardly budged and we stayed 100% dry (except for one of our shoes which was carelessly left outside of the rain fly). When we woke up the campground was a puddle - not sure how it would do if had pitched the tent where the puddle ended up being though. It is a little snug for my 6' partner (his head and feet almost touch both ends if he lays straight), but we sleep in it together fairly comfortably, and sometimes include our 20 lb dog. The best part about the design is the amount of headroom you get for the type of tent. Just having that one pole across really seems to open up the space. The mesh throughout also really helps with the illusion of space. Well, I also like the pockets that come included - the attic and the side-pockets are super deep and useful for storing the odds and ends you want accessible. Best set up for the price, definitely.
Dislikes: It is a little heavy. Split between two people it isn't bad. The included carrying sack is definitely much larger than it needs to be for the tent. You can compress the tent to a much smaller size if you carry the poles on the outside of your pack.
- Awesome two man tent
Likes: For the price, you can't beat it. My wife and I took it and split the weight, so it was only just over 2 lbs each. Double doors and vestibule were great, and it kept us plenty warm.
Dislikes: None - love it.
- Solid little tent
Likes: Lots of room for a 2 person tent. Easy to set up and I love that it has 2 doors. Also happy it comes with the footprint!
Dislikes: little on the heavy side for one person but if split with 2 this is perfect
