An excellent option for side sleeping backpackers or anyone who wants more ergonomic room and comfort in a sleeping bag, the NEMO Riff 15 Degree bag utilizes a unique "Spoon Shape" design to provide adjustable 3-season comfort and weight savings.
Down insulation has long been renowned for its compressible properties and efficiency in delivering an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. The shortcoming of down has been its susceptibility to the effects of moisture, losing much of its performance qualities when wet or damp. The Riff 15's premium 800-fill Nikwax Hydrophobic down insulation provides water-repellency that keeps the insulation dry longer and allows it to dry faster if it should become wet. More importantly, it maintains thermal efficiency even if it becomes wet, a quality that could traditionally only be found in heavier, less-compressible synthetic fills. The bag's lightweight 20D ripstop nylon shell has a DWR treatment to further protect the insulation from the elements.
NEMO’s innovative Spoon Shape contours give you extra space where it matters most. The cut starts wide in the shoulders, tapers in at the hips for comfort and warmth, and flares back out through the knees, letting you bend and shift naturally throughout the night. Another unique feature is NEMO's "Thermo Gills", zippered panels that enable you to vent body heat at your core without having to unzip the entire bag. This temperature regulation feature allows the bag to remain comfortable in varying temperatures. A waterproof/breathable footbox protects the bag further from the condensation build up that frequents the inside of tent walls.
Other comfort features include a fully-insulated hood and NEMO’s soft, down-filled Blanket Fold design. This insulated panel at the collar of the bag mimics home bedding and can be tucked around the face on cold nights or lay flat when it’s not needed. A contoured side zipper and down-insulated draft tube keep cold air out of the bag's interior. Drawcord adjustments around the face can be tightened or loosened as needed. A small zippered pocket provides a place to safely stash valuables.
Available in your choice of Regular (fits to 6’ 0") and Long (6’ 6") lengths, the NEMO Riff 15 Degree sleeping bag includes a stuff sack and a storage sack.

Real Customer Reviews
- Overall this was a great purchase. Got using My20 which made me feel like I got a deal.
Likes: I needed a warmer bag for trip to Virginia Triple Crown last weekend. (Dragon tooth, McAfee Knob and Tinker Cliffs). The temp was mid 40's in the daytime and mid 20's at night. I used the RIFF 15 and my smart wools. I need to add my puffy coat to stay toasty but was pleased with the comfort level. The RIFF's spoon shape provides the additional space to make. changing. positions during the night very easy. The collar at the head opening provides extra material to ensure there are no gaps to create draft. Even with the extra space and comfort, the bag compresses very well to fit. most any backpack compartment.
Dislikes: None yet
Likes: Lots of room for side sleeping.
And while sleeping on back it seems wider in the upper chest allowing me to move shoulders better than a mummy bag.
Seals very well around neck and head.
Super tough outer body and water proof toe box.
Dislikes: Pulls on the vent zippers are a bit small.
- Couldn't Ask for Anything More
Likes: Lightweight, comfortable, and features that allow you to control the internal temp of the bag. The quality of the inner lining is spectacular. Feels great.
Dislikes: None at this time
- Fantastic bag, even better price.
Likes: Super light, very warm, and compact. Was $100.00 less than anywhere else.
- Really warm
Likes: I'm not a fan of the classic mummy style sleeping bags on the market as I almost 100% sleep on my side. Nemo's "spoon shape" gives me a ton of space for my knees to bend so I don't have to sleep ridged. (being 6'5" and having space to bend my knees in a sleeping bag in unheard of)
From my tests it's very warm even in low temperatures but I also use a high R-value sleeping pad
Dislikes: I have heard people complaining about the zipper snagging every 2 inches but so far in my use it rarely has snagged.
- ONE OF THE BEST GEAR I HAVE PURCHASED
Likes: Purchased on sale at Backcountry Edge. By far this may be one of the most comfortable sleeping bags I have ever owned. Paired this sleeping bag with a 25" rectangular regular length pad (Nemo Tensor) and as a result this is the closest to sleeping in my own bed out in the woods. The bag did keep me warm on those cold nights. I slept on my back, stomach, side, tossed around and I had all the room in the world. Every feature this bag has from the spoon shape and even to the pillow pocket at the hood served its purpose. Would I purchase this bag again? Yes I would in a heartbeat! In fact, I am actually about to purchase the 30 degree bag for the warmer trips and as a backup for the family/friends that wants to tag along.
Dislikes: Because of all the features this bag has such as the spoon shape, hood and extra flap by the chest area the weight penalty comes into play. if my backpacking trip calls for some crazy mileage I start contemplating if I should bring my lighter Zpack bag or this one. It becomes a game of weight vs comfort.
- Great sleeping bag!
Likes: I love having space to bend my legs without having to move the whole bag. I have been having trouble with leg cramps after a hard day’s hike and this bag gives me the room to bend and stretch and avoid them. Haven’t had one yet with this bag! It was a regular occurrence in my traditional shaped mummy bag. It also gave me the ability to pull my feet up off the bottom of the bag and keep them warmer on cold nights. Love the extras—the pillow pocket is cool, the thermal gills are great when it’s warm, and the blanket fold is awesome!

- Awesome sleeping bag
Likes: The bag was everything described. Light weight and compresses very small. Just what I was looking for. Headed on a backcountry elk hunt with it in September
Dislikes: No dislikes yet
- Warm and comfortable.
Likes: Warm and certainly the most comfortable bag I have ever used. Compacts down to a very reasonable size and weight is not too bad. When I talk about weight I cannot help but this about quilts but they are way more drafty.
Dislikes: At 20 degrees, I stayed perfectly warm even in wind except for the opening at the top. For some reason, there was always a slight cold spot on my left shoulder. They probably could have put in a small baffle around the zipper at the top to the opening. I had to position the long red flap just right every time I moved to resolve the issue. I move a great deal when I sleep.
- It is a great product and holds the heat inside the sleeping bag well
Likes: I like everything about it. Definitely order a long if you are taller than 5'11.
Dislikes: Absolutely love everything!!
