Combining lightweight construction, durability and reliable insulation, the NEMO Ora self-inflating sleeping pad is a value-conscious option well designed for first-time backpackers who want all-season performance.
Unlike most lightweight, self-inflating sleeping pads that utilize cutouts in their internal foam to reduce mass, the Ora uses vertical and horizontal coring to decrease the amount of heat that is lost through the pad. This unique design keeps weight relatively low and packed size to a minimum while still providing more than adequate insulation and simple self-inflation.
The self-inflating foam core makes the Ora incredibly easy to use; just unroll the pad and open the valve. Open-celled foam responds by soaking up air, similar to the way in which a sponge absorbs liquid. Once the Ora has had time to inflate, you can adjust firmness by manually adding or releasing air before re-tightening the valve.
The NEMO Ora self-inflating sleeping pad is available in 20 Small (48" x 20"), 20 Regular (72" x 20") and 25 Long (76" x 25") sizes. Note that the Long size is rectangular in shape, while the other sizes have a tapering mummy shape. All Ora pads come with a drawstring stuff sack, compression strap and repair kit.
