A versatile and feature-rich option for backpacking or camping the NEMO Dagger 3P effectively balances weight performance and roominess. Dual doors and vestibules internal storage and a voluminous interior maximize livability.
Measuring 90” x 70” the tent has a 43 square foot floor area and offers a peak height of 42”. Two large side-entry doors create convenient access and the Dagger 2P’s two vestibules offer a combined 23 square feet of exterior space to stow gear. An internal storage pocket utilizes light-diffusing fabric to turn a headlamp (not included) into a lantern capable of illuminating the interior of the tent.
A hubbed-pole design creates a unique easy-set-up architecture and an additional ridge pole gives the sidewalls excellent verticality which frees up elbow room inside the tent. This construction also better maintains overhead height so that you have headroom throughout the tent instead of just in the very center.
A raised waterproof bathtub-style floor enhances performance in poor weather and also cuts down on wear-and-tear. Fully seam taped construction and the PU-coated Nylon rainfly further bolster weather protection. A custom-fit footprint (sold separately) can be used to offer additional protection against standing water rocks and roots.
Each NEMO Dagger 3P tent includes a stuff sack, guyout cord, stakes, and a repair kit. An innovative “dual-stage” design on the stuff sack makes it convenient to split up the components of the tent to share the carry weight between multiple backpackers.

Real Customer Reviews
- Great tent but...
Likes: Really easy to set up. Super lightweight, plenty of room for my fiancee, dog, and myself. Experienced high winds and tent hardly moved.
Dislikes: I love the tent but wasn't super happy when there was a tear on the gray trim around the bottom of the rain fly, I reached out to Nemo and all they offered was to possibly repair the tent. Had only used the tent once. But this is why I buy from Backcountry Edge and their one year no hassle return policy. I won't buy anywhere else.
- Plenty of room with a view
Likes: setup was very easy, huge amount of room for 2 hikers plus gear. I bought this so my son and I can split the weight and have plenty of room for sleeping. I was concerned the 2P was too tight for two people so I went with the 3P for only 8 oz more weight but a lot more room. I also wanted a true free-standing tent for platform camping and this one is the best so far! The 42 inc height is the highest I have ever seen and the arch design ensures your head will not hit the tent top!
Dislikes: none so far
- Flimsy Material
Likes: Dual doors - super nice to have
Weight - perfect for backpacking, barely even knew it was strapped to my bag
Color - yeah, it’s true, outward appearance was one of the selling points.
Although I have no need for the paw protector footprint, I thought that was a cool idea.
Dislikes: After a lot of research and saving up 5 months of hard earned money, I went with my gut to buy this tent instead of the REI Half Done for my trek up Mt Whitney. “Hey,” the Nemo Dagger 3p called out to me, “you deserve a nice quality tent. You love camping, you’re made for camping, and I’m made for you. It’s time you invest in a good, quality tent. One that won’t let you down like the others.”
I am left extremely dissatisfied and heartbroken. “C’mon Nemo, why did you betray me like this? All I wanted was to love you.”
For how much this tent costs and the way it’s marketed, I expect materials to be durable for backcountry. As it went, this isn’t even durable enough for camping in your yard. I set it up once in my living room to make sure I knew what I was doing, and then the second time I set it up was when I was on the trail, I find two holes in my roof netting, letting all the mosquitoes and their friends come right in for a nice late night chat. The tent sleeve also has a couple holes. The material used is thin (which I get is needed for “ultra light” tenting) but should not be that fragile when sold as a “sturdy 3p backpacking tent”.
The corresponding footprint does not line up correctly to the tent floor no matter how I adjusted it.
Condensation leaked through the walls.
Not a fan of the Jake’s Feet connectors, had to tug to set up and break down and was even worse when dirt got in between.
Stakes are junk. 1st one put in the ground bent all the way over. Had to delicately push in on an angle. Didn’t even use them at the second camp, just found big rocks to hold it down.
Overall, was expecting that coming in at a retail price of $499.95 (not including the footprint) I was thinking I’d have this tent for life. Sigh. It could’ve been the start to a really beautiful friendship.
- Great lightweight tent
Likes: Lightweight and roomy
Dislikes: Had more moisture buildup than I would have expected. Would like to see rain fly vents
- Best all-around 3P tent
Likes: I love the roomy vestibules and the natural color scheme. Nemo makes quality gear and I haven't been disappointed by any of their products yet. The bathtub floor is effective in keeping the interior dry during heavy rain.
Dislikes: It's certainly not an ultralight minimalist tent, so I mainly use it for 3-season car camping, and "comfortable" backpacking.
- Great backpacking Tent
Likes: Easy to set up
- Excellent purchase
Likes: Easy to assemble, packs light
Dislikes: The zippers on the doors sometimes do not flow smoothly on the turn of the opening.
- Haven't tried yet
Likes: Easy to assemble, seems great quality.
- Loving it
Likes: I'm 6'6" so I wanted a tent that didn't make me feel like I was living in a hobbit home. This tent is super spacious and super simple to set up. I wouldn't want to share this tent with two other people but for you and your backing packing buddy you've got tons of space and don't have to compromise on weight. Hitting the trail in 3 weeks will update review once I'm back.
Dislikes: Have to buy the footprint separately but that seems pretty standard for comparable tents.
- Best tent on the market!
Likes: As a long time Nemo fan, I bought this tent without seeing it in person and I didn’t have to. This is now my 4th tent from Nemo, my favorite tent until now has been the Losi 2P. I’ve worked with Nemo’s customer service with warranties before and was overly satisfied. The price is a bit steep, but that’s what it costs to design and own the best tent on the market. The floor of the tent seems like a pretty durable material. It’s super light and is very roomy. It blows me away that you can get everything you’ve always wanted in a tent, no compromise.
Dislikes: Not a single thing...
