The Marmot Nano AS Jacket employs GORE-TEX Active fabric to deliver lightweight protection for outdoor pursuits like climbing and backpacking. This construction ensures that you stay warm and dry without having movements inhibited.
Minimally designed for the active outdoor adventurer, the Marmot Nano AS Jacket has an innovative Gore-Tex active waterproof breathable membrane and durable, lightweight fabrics to provide ample breathability for those high output activities. Let’s take a look at its features.
As I mentioned, this jacket is constructed with Gore-Tex active waterproof breathable membrane. It is a much more breathable membrane that traditional Gore-Tex fabrics, because it is designed for those high output activities or with that active lifestyle in mind. So you are going to get a much more breathable material with this Gore-Tex active. It is 100 percent seam taped so you have confident waterproofing throughout the entire jacket, so excellent materials, very lightweight and comfortable, you know, waterproof breathable membrane.
Some other features we have with the jacket include a full length front zipper with a storm flap, so you have got waterproof protection throughout the entire zipper and it is a water resistant zipper as well, so you have definitely got some water protection there. It does come up to a nice hood and it does have a molded brim so you have got kind of a laminated brim here with some extra structure to give you extra protection. And you do have some adjustments on the hood as well, so you can really cinch that in if you need to. There is also a toggle on the back for peripheral vision, so you have got really nice fully waterproof hood on the jacket as well.
We do have two high set hand pockets with water resistant zippers. So they are really good pack compatible pockets or harness compatible pockets with ample space throughout, so if you are wearing a backpack, wearing a harness, you can certainly access these pockets very easily. And a nice benefit to this pockets, as well, is that they double as vents. So the backs of them are actually just a lightweight mesh. So if you need to vent or dump some extra heat, if you are getting warm in the jacket, you can open those pockets and dump that heat. So nice kind of double benefit to the pockets there.
We do have a draw cord hem. So on the right side there is a single draw cord and you can pull that, cinch down the hem, prevent it from riding up on you if you are, you know, wearing a harness or a backpack as I mentioned before. And we do have some asymmetric cuffs with Velcro attachment, so if you need to really protect yourself from the weather or cinch those down if you are wearing gloves, you can certainly do that. It keeps a low profile wrist cuff, nice Velcro on either wrist, so definitely a good fit enhancement there.
The jacket is an athletic fit, so it does fit pretty snug. I am wearing a medium here. And if I did want to layer up relatively heavily underneath, I would probably want to size up to a large, but for running or high output days in the mountains, the athletic fit would be very nice with just a mid weight base layer underneath.
The jacket is constructed with Marmot’s angel wing technology, so you do get good movement in the arms and it definitely doesn’t restrict. So you still get good movement, again, that Gore-Tex active waterproof breathable membrane is going to give you really good breathability as well as confident waterproof protection.
It is the Marmot Nano AS Jacket.
