Reflecting its continuing commitment to innovation, MSR unveils the HyperFlow Microfilter, a fast and efficient filter that utilizes Hollow Fiber technology. Lightweight and compact, the HyperFlow Microfilter is sure to appeal to even the most ounce-conscious backpackers.
The ground-breaking Hollow Fiber Technology used by the HyperFlow Microfilter enables it to efficiently and effectively filter up to 2.75 liters of water per minute! The ergonomic shape of the HyperFlow Microfilter makes it easy to pump and both pushes and pulls water, doubling the rate at which water pushes through the filtration "straws" housed in the filter cartridge. The 0.2 Micron cartridge is completely field maintainable and long lasting, effectively filtering up to 1000 liters of water before needing to be replaced!
NOTE: The HypeFlow Microfilter is effective against Protozoa, Bacteria and particulates. It is NOT effective against viruses.
A lengthy input hose attaches the HyperFlow Microfilter to its prefilter. The prefilter, with a flat, lightweight design, floats just below the surface of the water source and strains debris and particles through a fine mesh stainless steel screen. A length of output hose attaches the HyperFlow Microfilter to a Quick-Connect Bottle Adapter, allowing it to secure directly to any and all MSR hydration products, wide-mouthed Nalgene bottles or any other containers with 63mm threaded openings.
A maintenance kit (sold separately) is available to keep the HyperFlow Microfilter functioning at its optimal efficiency.

Real Customer Reviews
Likes: Size, design, and overall performance. I have only used this twice so far backpacking and both times it was used in fairly clean mountain water. The taste was good, I did not get sick from anything, it pumped my couple liters out pretty quick, and packed away decently. So overall it did the job well and that is what I needed.
Dislikes: I have mixed reviews about the sturdiness and price. For a filter, it seems pricey. I dont want to say flimsy is the word, but I guess I just expected it to feel more sturdy. But I dont think this enough to give a bad review because it so far it works great
Likes: I just purchased my second Hyperflow. Not because there was a problem with the first one, but because a family member absconded with it and I haven't been able to get it back. There are higher volume filter's available, but the trade off is weight and size. I found the HyperFlow to be the best combination available... regardless of price.
Dislikes: Some people comment on how quickly this filter becomes clogged and unusable. I know what they are referring to, but I've learned to avoid these issues through proper maintenance and a regular backflushing routine. I also try only filter water that is relatively clear. This filter should be for the user that is trying eliminate pathogens, not someone who is trying to turn mud into Evian.
Likes: This works great and the filter is very fast.
Packs down fairly small.
Compared to other filters I've tried, I like this one far more (sorry I can't remember the name of the other ones).
Dislikes: The end of the tube where the water is sucked in sometimes gets caught upside down which is a bit annoying, but I would still recommend this product.
Likes: I have used multiple times on the AT. The flow rate is great, set-up is quick and the system performs well in a variety of water access situation. Would recommend
Dislikes: backflushing the system can be a bit tricky. The written instructions are vague, better to check out the video to understand key steps in the process.
Likes: small, lightweight, and easy to use/clean.
Dislikes: so far I have been pleased with it.
Likes: This is an extremely fast filter. It filters a liter in about 20 strokes and is by far the quickest and lightest filter I've ever used. Also, the straps on the prefilter allow for a slim skipping stone to be strapped to it to weigh it down in the water.
Dislikes: I do wish that the filter size was 1 micron instead of 2, but I have yet to get sick from using it. The filter is somewhat fragile with drops and freezing, but if taken care of properly it is worth it.
Likes: Great Filter. Filters lots of water really fast. Also very light and comes with good directions.
Dislikes: I wish the filter locked on to the water bottle adapter.
Likes: good design
Dislikes: it would be better if it goes with a water bag
