The MSR Elixir 2 3-season tent is feature-rich and extremely livable at a price that won’t break your budget. Designed for two backpackers, the freestanding Elixir 2 has floor space to easily fit two 20 inch mattresses side-by-side.

The unique pole configuration of the Elixir 2 provides 29 square feet of interior space and a full 40 inches of interior height for maximum livability. Strong and supportive, the 7000-series aluminum poles are durable, yet lightweight. Poles, clips and webbing are all color-coded to take the guess-work out of set-up, and 6 aluminum stakes are also included to aid in securing the freestanding Elixir 2. Two large StayDry doors lead to dual vestibules offering a combined 17.5 square feet of additional protected storage space.

A balance of mesh and solid canopy fabric construction keeps weight to a minimum while providing venting, warmth and privacy, as needed. The Elixir 2 is extremely breathable, which increases livability and combats the build-up of condensation on the interior of the tent. In warm, clear weather, you can tie back the exterior doors to allow even greater airflow. And you can enjoy the view through the star-patterned skylight when the rainfly is open.

The Elixir 2 employs taped seams on the bathtub style floor with Durashield coating and a 1500mm PU coating on the rainfly to prevent leaks. The stress points are reinforced to prevent tear-outs, and a number of internal storage pockets are built in to provide places to stash essential items inside the Elixir 2.

If you prefer to travel even lighter, the Elixir 2 rainfly can be used alone or in tandem with the included footprint, making the MSR Elixir 2 a lightweight freestanding minimalist shelter.

  • 2-person tent
  • Two large vestibules and two doors for easy access
  • Included footprint offers multiple setup options
  • Balances breathable mesh fabric with solid canopy fabric for venting, warmth and privacy

Fresh out of the box I handed the tent to my ten year old. It was up in under 5 minutes. So set-up is rather easy except of course when it's windy then 2 people are required. Sturdy little tent that can handle some weather.

Likes: Good design and build quality. Comes with footprint.
Freestanding. Different set-up options

Dislikes: During set-up the poles want to go to their side by side alignment.

Likes: Excellent tent!!!! Took the Elixir 2 straight from the box to the presidential range. The first day was torrential, flash flood advisories, flooded trails, and a river that was a crossable a brook when we arrived 12 hours later had 9.2 feet of RAGING rapids. Set up took less than 5 minutes, solo, crouched under a tarp, and come morning I was the only dry one in the group. In fact another tent was doing a better job at holding the water in rather than keeping it out, back country water bed. Moral of the story, this tent is amazing. A palace for 1, comfortable for 2 and you can not put a price on staying dry. Highly recomended, can not say enough. Thank you B.C.E., best service aroud!

Dislikes: Absolutely nothing.
