Striking a balance between weight, storage capacity, and maneuverability, the classic Mountainsmith Tour lumbar pack has 550 cubic inches of storage capacity and excellent organizational features. It utilizes highly durable Cordura fabrication to hold up to the wear and tear of frequent use.
The waistbelt of the Tour has a wide wrap-around style and utilizes an ergonomic pull system to provide on-the-go adjustment. The foam-padded, breathable waistbelt provides more support than comparable lumbar packs and remains comfortable to wear even on hot days.
Larger than traditional lumbar packs, the Tour has 550 cubic inches of carrying capacity but still weighs just 1 pound, 9 ounces.. Unlike full-blown daypacks it is compact enough that your movements remain uninhibited.
Featuring three separate compartments and two additional storage pockets, the Tour offers multiple organizational options. A zippered pocket on the inside of the main compartment provides a hideaway for keys, coins and other valuables. Adjustable mesh side pockets feature an elastic closure and can accommodate 32 ounce water bottles (not included). A bungee attachment on the front of the pack allows you to carry a jacket, sweatshirt or additional gear.
With varied carrying options, the versatile pack can also be used as a shoulder bag, a briefcase or as an add-on pocket for a full-size backpack. Optional Mountainsmith Strapettes (sold separately) can be employed to serve as shoulder straps and provide extra support when heavy loads are being carried. A rain cover (sold separately) is available to protect the pack in inclement weather.

Real Customer Reviews
- Excellent Piece of Kit
Likes: Return Mountainsmith customer. Never disappointed. Extremely well made of tough material. Military grade quality. Highly recommended the shoulder strappetes.
Dislikes: Unfortunately it's heavy for what it is. Trade off with the sturdy materials & construction. Wished it had another zippered pouch on the left side of the belt.
- High quality, great capacity with an adjustment period
Likes: This is the first lumbar pack of any capacity I have purchased. I'm impressed with the quality and capacity. Great pockets, and very comfortable waistband adjustable fit.
Dislikes: The pack isn't compressed enough/close enough to body when carrying two 32 oz widemouth bottles without wearing the shoulder strap and tightening all compression straps.
This would be ok, but you can't take a bottle out and get it back in without loosening the straps then tightening them again which proves awkward without stopping.
- bit heavy
Likes: smaller version than day lumber pack, love the day lumber pack. the yellow interior of pack, makes it easy to find items on a yellow background. i like clipping on things on the back, multiple points. the bottom compression straps are awesome, i love caring my z poles, or cinch them on the back bungee. no need to remove pack to deploy or stow away z poles. i always use shoulder strapettes since i like running with this pack. doesn't bounce while running with strapettes (carrying 64oz water). nice and thick waist belt. one side pocket for small cell or snacks. both the day and tour packs are awesome to bushwhack, i have tortured my day pack so much, it might out live me. pretty tough packs.
Dislikes: annoys me that i only have one side pocket on the waist belt, and the other side is space wasted. not sturdy without strapettes when caring two nalgene 32oz bottles, poles. pretty small pack that weights allot for its volume.
