The versatile, panel-loading Mountainsmith Approach 50 backpack has the organizational and performance features you need for weekends in the backcountry, technical day hiking and extended travel.
Ensuring load-hauling performance, the Approach 50 has rugged suspension features found usually only on large capacity backpacks. A single aluminum stay and PE framesheet work in tandem with a compression molded backpanel to provide load stability by transferring weight to the Approach 50's padded, removable waistbelt. The fit of the suspension adjusts to accommodate torso lengths ranging from 17"-22". Adjustable shoulder straps, load-lifter straps and an adjustable sternum strap further enhance fit and comfort.
The Approach 50 incorporates a number of convenient access features. A throw-open zippered front panel provides full access to the interior of the 3050 cubic inch packbag. A large compartment in front of the main packbag features internal organization sleeves and a fleece-lined optics pocket. This front compartment has expandable storage space tucked between it and the main pack body. This design is ideal for stashing extra layers. A smaller, zippered front pocket and large zippered side pockets provide additional organizational option. Other features include multiple gear attachment loops and trekking pole mounts.
