Delivering warmth, durability and great fitting stretch, the Berghaus Men’s Pravitale FZ Jacket doubles as a mid layer or a cool weather outer wear piece. Its versatility makes it ideal for a wide range of alpine or backcountry activities, while its aesthetics make it equally at home at work on city streets or back at the ski lodge. Let’s take a closer look at its fit and features.
The AT stretch polyester and elastane fabric offers really nice abrasion resistance and fits great. There is stretch incorporated so the piece really moves with you very comfortably. Again, that face fabric is really durable, but the brushed interior is very comfortable. So next to skin it feels great. It feels like much more of a comfortable piece than you would expect from a really technical piece.
Cut of the jacket is such that it is not anticipating your wearing a lot of layering beneath it. You certainly could put a hard shell over top of it, if you are looking for a bolstered protection from the elements.
You have got elasticity here at the cuffs and also at the hem. Back here on the sleeves for a moment you will see that Berghaus has also incorporated thumb holes. That enables you to kind of extend that length of the sleeve for some further protection, some further warmth across the back of the hands. If you were wearing this with gloves, it also does away with that annoying separation you can get between the bottom of your sleeve and the start of the glove. So it makes things that much warmer. It also lays nice and flat, so if you aren’t using it, it is just kind of hidden away.
There is a little bit of stretch here, too, at the top of the collar. So, again, just kind of keeps things nice and close, which increases the warmth of the jacket, but also keeps it or maintains that comfort level.
The FZ in the name is a call out to the fact that you do have a full length zipper here on the jacket. So easy on, easy off. You can also kind of pull that zipper down and when temps kind of creep up a little bit, it lets you cool off a little bit, vent.
You do have zippered hand warmer pockets here on the jacket. They are set nice and high, so if you were wearing this with a harness or a pack, you can still get in and out of those pockets. It is not blocked off by wearing that other piece.
You do also have a small zippered pocket here on the sleeve, great for keys or cash or any kind of essentials you might want to keep close at hand.
The Berghaus Men’s Pravitale FZ Jacket, it looks great, it fits great and it does deliver technical performance and warmth for a wide, broad range of outdoor activities.
