Durable and lightweight (9.6 oz), the waterproof/breathable Marmot Women's Minimalist Pant utilizes GORE-TEX Paclite fabric to offer full weather protection and reliable performance in any season.
Utilizing tried and true GORE-TEX pack light fabric and offering full protection in any season, the Marmot women’s Minimalist pants are your go to light weight rain shell pants. We will take a look at all the features and what makes these pants so great.
Whenever we are talking about rain gear, the first thing to mention is the fabric and how it keeps you dry and comfortable in the backcountry. So Marmot is using GORE-TEX Paclite fabric here. It packs down to be really small. It is light weight and it is very breathable. This offers full waterproof protection. All of the seams on these pants are sealed so you don’t have to worry about water sneaking its way in through the seams. And, as I said, it is lightweight, that Paclite material.
Here on the front you do have two zippered pockets. These are coated with a water resistant coating on the front of that zipper, so you do have waterproof protection there as well.
And just going through the features I see a lot of attentions to detail on this pants that I don’t see on a lot of just rain shell pants. Like starting at the top you have an elastic band in the waistband of these pants. But you also have a snap closure and a fly on these pants. So unlike some other rain shell pants that you just slide on and off, these are really comfortable to take on and off with that button and with the fly.
Again, you have got two hand level pockets here. These are pretty small pockets, just items you want to get your hands on quickly here and there is no pockets on the back.
There are articulated knees here on these pants. So that provides a lot of freedom of movement. Sometimes with a lightweight rain shell material it can feel constricting. You know, with the material there it is not very stretchy. But with these I have a little bit of stretch and you have plenty of room in the leg and in the knee to move around.
Down at the bottom you have a nice zipper that goes part of the way up the leg here. If you need to remove the pants while you still have shoes on or boots it makes it really easy to do that. And there is also a elastic draw cord at the bottom of each of the pant legs. So you can cinch those down around boots. If you are wearing gators over top or even gators underneath, it makes it really comfortable for that.
The overall fit and feel of these pants, they do feel breathable. You do have 100 percent waterproof protection so they are ... they might be a little bit clammy if you are in the warmest of temperatures, but most of the seasons throughout the year you are going to stay nice and dry. You are going to breathe really well if you begin to perspire and they are going to keep water out.
I am wearing a size small right now. I normally wear smalls in Marmot apparel and they fit really well. If I was wearing, you know, an extra base layer or something like that underneath of these, they would feel a little bit too tight. I am wearing just a light weight pair of hiking shorts underneath of these pants right now. And they feel all right. I would be a little bit more comfortable in a medium just to have a little bit more room there, so just to give you an idea for the fit. And just overall these are the go to lightweight pants for the backcountry.
They are about 9.6 ounces so they pack down to be small. You can throw them in your pack when you need them, but just reliable protection on your next adventure. They are the Marmot women’s Minimalist pants.
