The Marmot Variant Jacket offers a unique, technical mix of fabrics and insulation for warmth where exposure is greatest and breathability where body heat needs to escape. Hybrid construction consisting of Polartec Power Stretch and Thermal R Eco synthetic insulation creates a balance of lightweight warmth and desired breathability for fast paced activities in cold weather.
The front of the Variant Jacket is insulated with windproof, Thermal R Eco which keeps the front of your body warm and protected from chilly wind. The sleeves, shoulders, side panels and back of the jacket are made from Polartec Power Stretch fabric, allowing maximum breathability and a smooth, stretch fit that offers good mobility.
Other features of the Variant Jacket are two, front zippered hand pockets, thumb loops at the cuff and a soft lycra binding at the cuffs and hem. The active cut of the Variant Jacket is fitted and layers well under a shell but can also be worn over base layers.
The Marmot Variant Jacket is available in your choice of color and size.

Likes: This jacket had my name written all over it as it is very comfortable with an athletic fit and plenty of maneuverability. I'm 5'11, 180lbs as I went with the Large to have a little bit of room for an under layer, i did try on the medium as it fit a little to snug for me so the Large was the perfect fit. It has the perfect balance of temperature while keeping cool/warm during most activities, this will be my go to jacket for cool/cold wearer, the fleece inner is super comfy..

Likes: Fits great, feels great, and perfect for skiing (downhill or XC). I wear a long sleeve light baselayer and go XC with this in 20deg temps and it's great. The neck is perfect if you're wearing a crewneck underneath, but too tight to zip up if you have a zip up/turtleneck baselayer underneath (my R1 is too thick in around the neck).
Dislikes: The thumbhole situation is a little odd and not like a baselayer. Maybe I'm picky.
