An affordable balance of price and performance, the Marmot Cloudbreak 0 Degree sleeping bag is designed for all-season camping and backpacking. The synthetic fill makes this mummy bag a good option even in damp or humid conditions.
An excellent balance of performance and price, the Marmot Cloudbreak Zero Degree Sleeping Bag is perfect for campers or back packers who are looking for a synthetic sleeping bag for cold weather. This is a zero degree sleeping bag and it is EN tested to be right around zero degrees. So this bag is a synthetic sleeping bag. That makes it really great for the price. You have a lot of value here and a lot of warmth. And the thing I love about synthetic sleeping bags as opposed to down is that synthetic dries out really quickly if it becomes damp or wet. And if you are in humid or damp conditions a synthetic sleeping bag is likely going to keep you warmer than a down sleeping bag should it become wet. So this is really reliable performance especially in those really cold conditions where you are not sure how the weather is going to be.
The synthetic material that they use here is Thermal R insulation which is just a really high quality synthetic. It does pack down to be pretty small and it retains that loft, it retains that warmth when you open it up and loft out the bag. We will go through all the features here and take a look at what makes this bag so great.
This is a mummy shaped sleeping bag, so you do you have your traditional hood on top. And I will mention that the hood is really nicely baffled. So if you need to cinch that down to keep in more warmth at night, this hood cinches down really nicely around your head and around your neck. And with any mummy sleeping bag it does taper down into the foot box here. And if you take a look at the foot box, it is a really nicely boxed, baffled foot box. So you do have a lot of comfort here. They even give a little bit more room, a little bit more girth in the foot box to keep it more comfortable. And something else that Marmot does here, they have got body mapping in this bag. So in key areas that you tend to lose a lot of heat, in your core and in the foot of the bag, they put a little bit more insulation and that way they can keep the weight of the bag down in those other areas that you don’t need as much insulation. So it is definitely a smart feature there. It keeps you really warm and really comfortable at night.
You do have a full length zipper. It goes most of the way down to the bottom of the foot box. And this zipper is set down to be a little bit lower. They have got a really nice draft tube behind that zipper so you are not going to have unwanted cold air coming through the zipper. And they have sewn in a really durable material behind the zipper so that prevents snags when you are opening and closing the zipper.
If I look at the hood, again, a nicely baffled hood. You have a draw cord that goes around the top and a separate one that goes around the bottom. And these draw cords are actually different sizes so at night and you can’t see it, you can feel which draw cord is the top and which one is the bottom. And this is really nice if you just wan to cinch down the top, but don’t want to have that tight around your head, around your neck. You can cinch that down. Or vice versa. If you need to just cinch it down on the bottom you can do that. So really nicely designed draw cords there.
And then the small details, but things that really do matter is here at the top you have a nice little protector here. If you have it zipped up all the way, that zipper isn't going to irritate your face.
This is a two way zipper so down here at the bottom you can vent the bag from the bot-tom. And this being a zero degree bag, you have a lot of warmth here. So if you are using it in slightly warmer conditions, you can just open that up and vent it there without having to undo the top of the bag. So that just adds a lot of value there as well.
This bag comes in two sizes, regular and long. The regular fits up to someone who is six feet and the long fits someone who is up to six feet six inches. So, you know, definitely a lot of length in the bag and just the girth in general. This is a mummy shaped bag, but they do give you a little more sprawling comfort here around the shoulders and in the core area.
Marmot does include a compression stuff sack with this bag and it is something I don’t see included with a lot of sleeping bags. This also has a lot of value so you have got compression straps here on the sides. And this being a zero degree bag it doesn't pack down to be super small so this really helps out in saving space inside your pack. So this is the compression stuff sack for it. But they also include a bigger storage sack. So when you have this at home you don't want to store it in a compressed state. You want to store it nice and open to maintain that loft. And they include a bag for storage there.
All in all you have got really reliable performance with this bag. With that synthetic insulation you don’t have to worry about this bag getting wet. If it does get wet it dries out really quickly. And with all of those features, those little attentions to detail that you can expect from Marmot, you have got really reliable, warm performance for the back country.
It is the Marmot, Cloudbreak Zero Degree Bag.
