Fully waterproof and breathable with the durability and light weight every backpacker wants, the award-winning Marmot Artemis Jacket is an excellent option for hikers seeking reliable, lightweight and compressible protection.
Fully waterproof, highly breathable, durable and lightweight, the award winning Marmot Artemis jacket has everything a hiker or backpacker could want in a rain jacket. Let’s take a closer look at its fit and features.
The jacket is constructed of Marmot nanopro membrane fabric. So, again, highly waterproof and very breathable. It also incorporates some mechanical stretch, which makes this a lot more comfortable jacket to wear than a lot of more boardy or stiff rain jackets. It is also fully tape sealed so, again, just bolsters that weatherproof protection and the confidence you can have in the jacket.
While it is a highly breathable fabric, there are times where you could be moving faster, working harder and building up so much heat that it is hard to push it through that fabric fast enough to keep you cool. So Marmot incorporates pit zips which allow that warm air to escape, keep you dry on the inside, cool and comfortable.
As far as fit is concerned, you do have some Velcro adjustments here at the cuff. You can tighten that up if you prefer it that way or leave it a little more open and loose. There is also dual points of adjustability here at the hem so you can cinch that jacket in a little tighter at the waist if you prefer your jacket to fit that way.
There is also a helmet compatible hood, a quite sizable hood if you were wearing this for ski or other purposes. You can confidently know that you can use this over top of a helmet. But there is also sufficient adjustability built into that hood that you can wear it comfortably without the hood.
As far as pocketing is concerned on the Artemis jacket, you do have two fairly high set pockets. They are deep pockets. So a lot of internal storage there. But the access points are high enough that you can get to them even if you are wearing a back pack or a climbing harness. Waterproof zippers on those pockets, too, so, again, just further assurance that the contents stay safe and stay dry.
There is a small internal zippered pocket high on the chest. You can have valuables inside the jacket. There is also a media pass through port on that pocket so if you were wearing head phones, listening to music, you can pass those... that wire through the inside of the jacket instead of exposing it to the elements.
The Marmot Artemis jacket. You have got that waterproof protection, excellent breathability, those incorporated, integrated pit zips, super comfortable jacket with that stretch. You have got a fairly relaxed fit here. I am in a medium. That is the size I normally fit. And this is a super comfortable jacket. IT makes this just a really, really great option for any number of outdoor activities.
