A best-selling option for multi-day and extended backpacking, the Lowa Renegade GTX Mid boot is supportive, durable and equipped with the traction and waterproof protection for any and all types of backcountry terrain and conditions.
The Renegade’s GORE-TEX lining delivers waterproof/breathable performance that readies the boot for stream crossings and all day slogs in wet weather. An all metal lacing system offers rugged durability and the opportunity to dial in fit. NOTE: There is a break in period with this boot due to the supportive nubuck leather construction.
Lowa’s exclusive Monowrap construction ensures reliable stability even under the load of a heavy pack. Consisting of a dual-density PU heel counter, a full-length stabilizer embedded in the midsole, an integrated shock-absorbing midsole and a Vibram EVO outsole, this construction combines structural support, fatigue-preventative cushioning, and all-surface traction.
The Lowa Renegade GTX Mid backpacking boot is available in men's full and half sizes as well as Medium and Wide widths and your choice of color options. To keep the leather on this boot in good shape and to prevent water absorption in the upper for the life of the boot you should apply a leather conditioner or wax paste (both sold separately) waterproofing treatment.

- Great boots
Likes: I have hiked in these boots from the AT to the Utah desert , and they have not let me down. Easy break in and very comfortable. The Vibram soles provide great grip on almost any surface. I hiked in rain for 5 days in Virginia, last fall, and my feet never got wet.
Dislikes: A little pricey
- Love the fit. I have horrible flat feet and after two foot surgeries it is hard to find a boot that fits well.
Good for flat feet
One of the better boots I have had
- Out of the box comfort
Likes: I love these boots so much that when I saw Backcountry Edge had them discounted I bought a extra pair for future use. I this boot out of the box for a 8 day hike across the sierra's. My feet never even crossed my mind.
- Great construction with fantastic traction
Likes: Wider than some boots, so my feet have ample space to breathe. Great traction with Vibram sole.
Dislikes: Nothing to dislike yet
- My second pair! The most comfortable boot I have ever owned! I ran a 5K Race in them.
Likes: Lightweight, soft and smooth around my feet, sturdy on the trail, waterproof
- Excellent Boots
Likes: Great stability. Very comfortable. Took them out for a 5 mile hike the first day I received them and they fit perfectly right out of the box.
- Suprisingly Supportive and Durable for a Lightweight Boot
Likes: When I received these, I didn't think that they would hold up after wearing for a while. they are very light and fairly supportive, not just in the footbed, the upper is supportive, as well. It was the upper support that I assumed would diminish quickly because of the light weight material. it has not though. these are great boots, perhaps the best pair I've owned (I started backpacking at the age of 12 and am 55 now). I like them at least as much as a pair of Vasque Sundowners I bought in 1982, which says a lot.
Dislikes: Thus far, i have no dislikes. I've not had them for even a year though. I believe they will be long lasting, but time is the only teller of that tale.
- On my second Pair
Likes: Very comfortable. No break-in needed. First pair is still wearable 2 1/2 years. Iam a big guy 240 lbs, tend to be hard on shoes living on a farm. Just purchased second pair. This one or Danner Mt Adams own both, great Boots
- Comfortable Out of the box
Likes: Comfortable right out of box. Wide width. Light, grips well on trail. I been wearing for a couple hikes now around 6 miles each. No blisters which is great on a new pair of boots. Also not made in china is great
Dislikes: I keep hearing they are not durable but we will find out
- Solid boot with great support
Likes: No break-in period required, relatively light, good ankle support.
Dislikes: Gore-tex liner begets sweaty feet, but that's not an issue unique to these boots.
