Ideal for ounce-counting and space-saving hikers, mountaineers or trail-runners, LEKI Micro Vario Carbon DSS Antishock trekking poles offer ultra-lightweight (16.9 oz/per pair), adjustable performance in pack-friendly dimensions.
Incorporating an ergonomic angle that preserves a natural position for your wrists, lightweight AERGON Thermo Mid grips have an ovoid shape that can be palmed or held traditionally. Rubberized, dimpled tops offer textured grip points and ultra-lightweight, easy-to-adjust straps reduce stress on your wrists and provide additional security and comfort. The extended length of the grips allows you to grasp lower on the shafts, eliminating the need to shorten the length of the poles every time you encounter a steep slope or side hill traverse.
Micro Vario Carbon DSS trekking poles feature LEKI's Dynamic Suspension System (DSS) that reduces stress on the joints, muscles and ligaments. This system reduces the peak impact force by up to 40%, protecting muscles, joints and ligaments. LEKI places the DSS Antishock system close to the point of impact by placing the system right above the tip of the pole.
The shaft sections are connected by a concealed inner cord that runs through all three sections of the poles. After each shaft section is aligned, pull them taught until you hear the "click" that indicates the push-button lock is engaged. This innovate design saves weight and increases collapsibility while still delivering surprising strength. Unlike many foldable poles on the market, LEKI Micro Vario poles also offer a short range of adjustability. By utilizing the integrated easy-to-use Speed Lock lever, you can adjust the length of the poles from approximately 43"-51".
Carbide flex tips deflect up to 30 degrees without damaging the lower pole sections. This reduces the risk of pole breakage if poles get caught between rocks or tree roots on the trail. Small profile trekking baskets are included and are interchangeable with a simple screw on/off design that stays secure.

Real Customer Reviews
Likes: Super light, easy to compress, unfold and adjust height. Great grips that resist sweat.
Dislikes: Doesn't absorb as much shock as I thought it might have...maybe just my mis perception.
- Best trekking poles I've ever owned
Likes: Lightweight, fail proof, easy to disassemble, good shock support, great grips, best construction, easy to adjust height of poles.
Dislikes: Wish the strap on the handle was of firmer material with leather like some other models. The nylon is very soft material and sometimes difficult to quickly put your hand into it because it flops around and easily twists.
- Very light and fast to setup. Shock absorbing feature works extremely well and is much better for my arms over a long hike.
Likes: DSS system. Light to carry. Ease of setup.
Dislikes: Pricey but got them on sale with Backcountry Edge generous sale.
Likes: Sturdy lite weight. Good design and comfortable hand grips
- Top notch trek poles
Likes: I’ve used these on a few day hikes so far and now I won’t go hiking without them. I was looking for high quality, lightweight, folding, adjustable carbon poles and these fit the bill. The storage travel bag is great to keep these together when not in use. I like that the straps are not specific and work great in either hand.
Dislikes: The foam grips or straps seem like they were giving me a hot spot on my palm, but so far no blister. I expected these to have left/right hand specific straps. Took me a while to get over this and realize it’s actually nice they are not. Better instructions from Leki on using the straps would be helpful - there is a way to get the straps to lay flat in the palm without the strap folding over. Maybe this was contributing to my hot spot before I figured it out. The DSS suspension seemed like a good idea, but I’m not convinced it helps very much. In hindsight I might have just gone for the regular MicroVario Carbon.
- The trekking pole this model replaced was much better for my purpoioses. The new pole folds into three sections, which is good. But the old pole had a superb antishock feature that FAR exceeds the antishock on the new poles.
Likes: The new pole stands a bit taller.
Dislikes: The label says there is an "antishock" feature. Those who had the previous model would disagree. It doesn't begin to compare with the antishock feature of its predecessor.
- Great lightweight poles. I got them because the are quieter than my other aluminum poles. We will see how they hold up.
Likes: Light and quiet with shock absorbing
Dislikes: Not a dislike but I'm concerned with durability. I'm 225 lbs and extremely hard on things
- Total Joy to Use
Likes: These hiking poles are the bomb. They are everything they are advertised to be.
Lightweight. Strong. Compact. Adjustable fit. From now on, I won't go out without them.
Dislikes: One minor downside. I sweat a lot and the straps became soaking wet. If they used a material that did not absorb water, that would be ideal for me. That would make the poles even more comfortable.
- Perfect poles
Likes: These are fantastic poles. Light, strong, pack small, easy to set up and break dowm, and the grip is really comfortable, no hand fatigue or chaffing at all. Love these
- Great for running or trekking
Likes: I really like the Leki Micro Carbon DSS Antishock Trekking Poles. They collapse/fold down so that they are easy to carry or put into luggage. I also have the Leki Cork Vario Carbon DSS poles that collapse but do not fold. I did find that the anti-shock was more pronounced in the Cork version over the folding poles, but over the long haul the folding poles will be great.
Dislikes: No real dislikes. It takes a harder tug at first to put the top part down so the button pops out.
